Thanks for all the photos.

Going to need a close up of the engine (to find a good existing bolt to ground) and a close up of the edge of the aux belt/edge of the engine.

To get these made up for anything other than Type R engines I will need some help please. If I can have the following details from a:

- 1.4 petrol
- 1.8 petrol
- 2.2 diesel

Click the image to open in full size.

Left hand side of the engine bay I will need to see a picture of the side of the engine and the front slam panel (should be an unused bolt hole there). Take a measurement to run the cable around and out the way to reach the contacts.

Click the image to open in full size.

Close up of the engine to find a bolt that can be utilised to attach the grounding cable to (should be plenty to choose from). Take a measurement to run the cable around and out the way to reach the contacts.

Click the image to open in full size.

The battery negative to the front slam panel (this one is easy as there will already be a cable in place). Take a measurement of the existing cable.

This way I can make them look as OEM as possible. Otherwise I'll be guessing on measurements and they may not reach or be too long etc...

If you can PM me the details or post them on here that'll be great and I can get started.

Currently my list looks like this. If anything is wrong please amend. If you guys with the 1.8 and 1.4 and anybody with a 2.2 engine would like one of these I'll need you to PM me with photos and measurements of your engine bay as posted above.

Kind of lost me here.

Why aren't you using the original grounding bolt location? I'd feel a lot more comfortable with cables to their original grounding points.

Currently the OEM grounding kit it one strap that attaches the negative terminal of the battery to the front slam panel.

The new kit will attach to the front slam panel, any point on the engine (that is metal) and finally the engine straight to the front slam panel again.

Im my picture of my engine you can see I've attached mine to the same place as the ground for the fuel rail electrics (so I believe).

If parsco is happy 4 me to put pics in his thread I will. I am not trying to promote the d1 kit just help. Parsco looks to have a nice little thing going on selling a quality product and I don't want to step on his toes. I am helping because I had to do a bit of investigation before fitting the d1 kit.

Don't mind mate. My custom kit is different to the D1 kit in a few different ways and both have good points and bad points.

D1 Grounding Kit
Good:
+ 5 points of contact
+ Gold plated terminals
+ Very good for bling under the bonnet

Bad:
- 8 gauge cable (poss 4 gauge if you pay more)
- No contact from engine ground to front slam panel
- Limited choice of colours (yellow)
- Lots of wires littering your engine bay

Parsco's Heavy Duty Grounding Kit
Good:
+ Gold plated terminals
+ Contact from the engine ground to the front slam panel
+ Choice of red, black and brown (possible others)
+ Can be made to look very OEM
+ 4 gauge 100% oxygen free copper cable

- Fewer contact points than D1
- Not quite so good for bling
- More expensive per meter of cable than D1

Anyone noticed any real benefits to this kit? Also how easy is it to install?

Actually, problem is poor quality ballasts.

Having done extra grounding on my car + more amp battery, lights now don't go off when I turn on engine (although you do notice flicker).

However, on my old Civic, I retrofitted HID's in it too. There the lights don't even flicker when cranking engine! It just has much higher quality ballasts.

The benefits of the kit I have explained a few pages back. But basically it's designed to protect and look after your ECU and stabalise everything i.e. supposed to make lights a bit brighter, reduce/stop flickering lights etc...

Very easy to install, no more than 5-10 minutes of your time. I will be providing full instructions on here so that everybody knows how to get the best out of it.

I will be setting up a Trader thread very soon which will have more details.
