Heated seats - strange operation, and not warm enough
Hi,
I love my new Honda Civic for the looks and the drive but have (so far) been a little disappointed surprised by the heated seats and the way they work. First of all, the control system is strange. There are two settings, 'Lo' and 'High' which you'd think meant 'warm' and 'very warm'. However, if you read the manual then actually the difference between these settings is as follows: High - turns the seat heaters on fast heat-up, so they heat up quickly. Once they reach operating temperature, the heaters switch off until the seats have cooled down. Then they turn back on (so they cycle on/off). Lo - turns the seat heaters on slow heat-up, so they heat up slowly, but remain on. So you don't have as much control as I thought you would - on my brother's VW Golf you just choose the setting and they stay at that setting. The other thing is they don't get that warm. Does anybody know if there is anything a dealer can do to modify the settings so that they heat up more? Thanks! |

Hi.
Also strange that the manual advises you not to use them for too longer periods or you will drain the battery. Never seen that before. Actually used my heated seats recently for the first time, without having read the quote from the manual I thought it meant "warm" and "very warm" like it does in other cars. Mine got warm ok - although it is not quite freezing outside yet. I donīt have leather seats though - may be different. I will test some more as weather gets colder.. |

I guess they could but it'd be expensive
I'm pretty sure you would be looking at replacing the seats - the wiring would probably be the easy bit Quote:
