Hi - Many apologies if this has been done before, but I certainly can't find anything...
Just got a whizzy new Blackberry It likes to pretend it has, but it just doesn't seem to work and the phone icon never appears on the display. I know it's not on the list of compatible phones, but nor was my V3x, so I have to live in hope. Can anyone offer any help? Please? I've disabled the encryption, but still no joy. Ta. |

Why don't you think it's on the list of compatible phones? If you check on Honda Handsfree you'll see the 8300 is fully supported? Blackberry 8300 Supported I hope it all works cos I'm hoping to pick one up soon! |

Hmm - I see what you mean. I must have been looking at an old link.
It does everything as per the instructions (including telling me it's paired) and then just doesn't work. The Blackberry says something like "waiting for response from Honda HFT" and then never seems to get there. I've even tried resetting the whole system. Hopefully I'm just being a muppet, but I've successfully paired 4 other phones in the past without any problems. |

Hi, sorry to hear you're having problems. Ask your company BES administrator if they allow you to pair their devices with car kits. It may be supported by Honda but a lot of companies disable this option via policy. If you're nice to the admin they might enable this function on your BB (thus breaking company policy and getting themselves sacked!) But seriously - It tends to be standard to disable certain Bluetooth functions for security reasons. Ask your IT dept / BES admin before driving yourself bonkers. And ask them nicely.....

And then if they say no, talk nicely to HR
becuase we wouldn't want to be working for a company which effectively encourages you to break the law by not driving handsfree... Though this is an option of last resort, as the easy answer for them is "just don't use the phone in the car" |

I too have a BB 9300 but not hft, bluetooth on blackberrys is a law to its own, with not a great deal of support. but it should support normal connection to the HFT. I have seen the same message as you have for other things ive tried to pair with. In the end i figured it was actually pairing okay but not ending the process. I found going out and letting the BB work out it should be paired seemed to help. Can you test it with a phone calling the BB and seeing if it picks up. |

Hi
Just got my 2.2 ex last night and have paired ok with a bb curve. When you setup phone in car and give passcode then ensure that bluetooth is on bb and search quickly as possible. The bb will then prompt you for the passcode and you insert this when prompted and it will connect successfully. Please note that you may want to change settings on bb to ensure that phone will pair automatically each time you enter and start the car. Hope this helps SJL |

Thanks to all for replying - still no joy. Turns out that the Blackberry thinks it's paired but the car doesn't. The blackberry never gets its "reply" from the car. - No on screen phone logo on the car, no calls to be made. Can't believe I'm going to have to get one of those daft o2 car kits when there's all this onboard wizardry
