iPod Cable not Working/recognising iPhone
Firstly, I'm embarassed to admit this is the first time I've been on these forums in a long, long time... No excuse really :/
I've somehow developed a fault regarding the iPod/iPhone cable on my car. This is the factory fitted unit that comes with the NAV+HFT option on a 57plate FN2 (cable comes through the cubby hole below the CD player. Over the last few weeks it has been increasingly difficult to remove the plug from my iPhone (i.e, the buttons on the plug aren't releasing from the phone very well). Well, today that seemed to fix itself only now when I plug my phone in, its not being recognised at all; ie, its neither charging the phone nor allowing any playback through the head unit. Simply stating 'CDC Eject' when you select what would usually be the iPhone/iPod on the audio menu. This is an iPhone 4S and ive never had an issue with it in my car before now. Now, I have searched for a thread relating to this issue but I've not been able to find any similar issues at all. My thoughts are that given the recent history of complications with the Cable, its likely to just be that that has gone faulty but I'm hoping someone might either be able to confirm this is likely or alternatively, suggest something else it might be and possibly guide me in the right direction to repairing/replacing the relevant parts. Thanks in Advance, Chris. |

Just realised I've also posted this is the wrong forum! Apologies before anyone chirps up.
If a Mod can move it it would be much appreciated. Thanks |

It does sound like its an issue with the cable and not making a good connection. Could be the cable ha worn
I'm not sure Honda do replacements though.. Prob the whole unit which could be pricey |

Try asking one of the dealers on here, most are friendlier than your local dealer.

Cheers for your help guys.
Before I gain access to the unit itself, ie, trace the lead back, does anyone have any idea what type of iPod setup this will be? As I mentioned, its a black lead that comes through the cubby hole beneath the head unit. I was under the impression this was a genuine Honda supplied/fitted accessory direct from the factory although I think that is wrong. I bought the car used (when it was about 18 months old) and obviously it was already fitted. The cable allows me to charge my iPod/iPhone and gives playback through the steering wheel controls but does NOT give any information on the Nav screen/allow song or play list selection through the nav screen. The only controls I have over the playback are through the Steering Wheel controls (skip tracks forwards/backwards and thats it). I gather its not a simple job accessing the back of the head unit. I though it would be as simple as removing the glove box but from doing a few searches on here, it appears removing the glove box isnt a simple task at all. I'm now wondering whether its a case of removing the whole head unit/centre console etc or whather I can get away with removing the left/passenger side trim (below the glovebox and connects to the centre console). Awful description but I'm hoping that makes sense??? Either way, any further guidance would be much appreciated of course Thank you, Chris. |

Hi Chaps,
Sorry for jumping on this but I'm having a similar problem with my new (used) civic. I have the USB connector in my arm rest (2010 model) and have connected an old 3GS iphone full of songs and have tried 2 different iPhone cables but my phone doesn't show up nor does It charge my phone. I tried creating a playlist called honda1, pressing the aux/cd button. A lot of head scratching and swearing later I'm loosing my mind. Any help or advice would be fantastic. Thanks, David. |

This may not be the problem, but my issues with iPhone connectivity were fixed by removing the bumper case I had on.
