Reversing Camera
Have been thinking of fitting reversing sensors for ages and never got round to it. However was in Costco today and picked up a neat reversing camera with LCD monitor (its about 2.5inch diagonal). Link from the camera to the monitor is RF, so no cables to lay. Only needs 12V pick up for Camera and LCD monitor. I am away from home next week so will be at least ten days before I fit it.
Powered the setup using a 12V supply and must say the quality is excellent. Cost was £58 including VAT... |

Sandozer,
Followed you're excellent suggestion and blasted accross to Costco in Leeds and Picked up one of the cameras. It comes with a cigarette lighter attachment for the front (vid screen) and bare cables to tap into the reversing light at the rear (although i think i'm going to wire it into the cigarette socket in the boot. I'm having a car kit / Ipod kit fitted next week, so i'll probably run a live and earth to the centre console and fit the Vid screen somewhere near there. Let me know if you have any good ideas for fitting it? Mc-F |

Camera fitted at last.. Pictures
Finally got around to fitting the camera, (been working dan sawf).
Had to mod the Camera bracket, ie cut one of the attachment legs off. (Yep, no warranty...). Used heat and twisted the remaining leg to give the desired angle. Then screwed upwards into light housing (very strong plastic in that area). This is a personal thing but have fitted the whole camera kit and can remove the whole kit within I would say 20 minutes leaving no obvious traces. Powered camera from reversing light circuit, Thanks guys for previous posts on removing tailgate panels. Picking up the LCD display power a la Pottsy from the Fuse Panel. Display held on front panel using velcro in kit. (comes with a lovely swiveling bracket, but was too obtrusive imho.) Its not a zillion $, and it works as advertised... |
