Central locking only unlocks

Hi people, I have a problem, my central locking only unlocks, nether the key fob or drivers door will lock they will only unlock, everything looks ok behind the drivers door panel, I have been unable to find a fuse for locking, does anybody know where the locking relay switch is or have any other ideas what to check, is there a magic reset button somewhere [wishful thinking]. I can only lock my car by manually locking each door then the alarm will set when the key is turned.

Just take it back to your dealer and ask them to sort it out. If you start messing with the locks then they could say you caused the fault and refuse to repair it under warranty. So a trip to your dealer looks on the cards to me.

Yes, I understand where you’re coming from, but if my central locking just needs a new fuse or a reset button pressed it is far easier for me, than taking my shiny toy 28miles for Honda to keep for 3 days to put a new fuse in. Thanks for the reminder not to muff anything up.

A quick phone call to the dealer and they may point you in the right direction of possibilities to look for before you journey over there.

Are you sure the boot is properly closed?

Well, the boot light goes out and I've closed all the other doors

There is no 'magic reset' button
but if one (or more) of the doors aren't closed, it won't lock - and the boot is well know for not always shutting properly until you've got the nack of it...

Ok thanks, I'll go and check all the doors and boot, but If any door is open doesn’t the drivers console shout about it

It does Martin yes - I was kinda grasping at straws really - dodgy boot or door switch

alternatively, it could be a dodgy lock button on your key fob...

Take it back to the dealers, that's what warranty is for, as siad above if you mess about with it they may then refuse to fix it as you could have damaged it.

I still can’t find the problem so I will book in to go back to the Honda mother-ship today.

The previous Civic had a sequence by which you could reset the central door locking that involved pressing the key fob buttons whilst turning the key in the ignition. I have to do this every so often in my wifes Civic (old style) when the temperature falls below freezing!

That’s the sort of thing I was expecting Spile, but with the addition of simultaneously steering left and opening & closing the boot lid 9 times. It didn’t work by the way.

I have just got my car back from the dealer after they fixed my alarm, and the doors do not always lock when using the remote. The battery looks fine in the remote as the light comes on. It will only lock if I open and close the drivers door first?? I'm taking it back tomorrow, has anyone else experienced this?

I thought exactly the same as TTDegs when I read the OP.

I had the same problem which my dealer eventually corrected by slamming the boot and telling me to do the same.

Even though the boot open indicator wasn't showing on the control panel, it wasn't "locked" in position.

The dealer told me on the phone that there may be a loose connection in the door? they will take a look tomorrow. There was nt a problem with the door before I took the car in for the alarm????
