Question Opinions on this 'parking sensor' set?

CA Automotive - speed trap countermeasures UK Static Gatso speed cameras and and-held radar speed guns Vector Morpheous Geodesy euro target echo detector radardetector radarwarner radar quintess laser lasershield beltronics detectors cameras motorbik

Anyone think it'll be any good??

Was also thinking of the ORIGIN b2 Driver Safety and Information System. (I reckon it could be installed on a runner to come out of the cubby hole in the dash).

I like your style.

They've got to prove you installed it for said illegal purpose, not as it is marketed, and as I have electric gates, I see no way of proving otherwise.

I have designed a few buildings for the Kent area.
If you live in one of them and it is having problems,--
I live somewhere in Outer Mongolia.

My place was built in the early 50's so it's probably not one of yours.

Save your money and drive within the speed limits
Guaranteed no speeding points on your licence. No questionable bits of kit in the car. No having to scan the legal pages regularly to find out that £300 kit is now illegal and worthless. No worrying that if plod finds you, goodbye licence. No worries.

You've got 9 points on your licence. You do 35000 miles a year, so the car is obviously a fairly important bit of kit for your livelihood.
So what do you do. Obey speed limits, NOOOO. Fit some dodgy bit of kit who's legality is extremely questionable. YESSS. Glad he lost his licence, one less idiot on the road for 12 months.
Only another few million to go, and driving will be a pleasure again

Foggy, you must be a saint while still alive...
I don't quite agree with people like you, lecturing about being good and honest. Do you participate in daily traffic?
Never been on a road in the middle of nowhere, with rediculously low speed limits? I have!
Never seen the speed limits go down over the weekend, followed by police control on monday? I have!
Never lost over 1 hour in a traffic jam, and then having to break the rules to get in time to collect your kids at school? I have!
Never been frustrated at work (or for whatever reason) and stepped a little to hard on the right pedal? I have!
Never seen a police control just behind the sign where the speed limit goes from 90 to 70? I have!

I'm not defending assholes that bring other peoples life in danger.
But I'm disgusted with the attitude that "speeding = killing".
Cars were never built better and safer then nowadays. On a deserted open motorway in the middle of the night you can easily do way over 120 (km/h). In heavy traffic 100 can be dangerous. But the limit is 120 km/h. (Here in Belgium anyway.) Where's the logic?
There have never been more camera's on the roads as last year here, and still the statistics show that the number of accidents is still rising.
However politicians make us believe that speed is the reason for 90% of the accidents, a recent study has discoverend that that is not even 10%!
...
I'm getting a bit carried away. Anyway, I think I made my point. I had the same discussion a few years ago on a dutch kawasaki-site. Don't come tell me that you get a bike to keep it within speed limits. And the same probably goes for a Type S...

Can we please try and avoid going any further down the route of "you should / shouldn't install one of these"?

Last time it came up, we ended up having to recylce pretty much all the thread

Essentially, the fitting and using of a laser device specifically to fool a Police laser speed trap has been proven to run the risk of a BIG fine.

Quite how these people are getting away with advertising so blatently I'm not sure.

However, fitting a device which really does open a garage door is fine - Audi etc actually offer that sort of thing as OEM option fit.

The Origin B2 is a perfectly legal device as it uses GPS for the camera's, the optional laser detector may be illegal but if it goes off its to late you have been zapped.

I've owned a Origin for over 4 years and found it to be excellent.

Ok, I confess... I'm guilty all the way.
Let's say I have a strong meaning about speeding. And if my limited knowledge of the English language probably make things sound stronger than they are ment to be, I apologise.
FYI, I do not have one of these detectors or jammers. They are VERY illegal here and can cost you your car. Let's say I play the game of speeding, and sometimes I loose. But I do not feel a speed-pervert or criminal of some kind. Sorry...

I believe that laser detectors are still currently legal, with no case have been judged against them (though I wouldn't like to be the first one!).

But laser emitters which are used to deliberately scramble the readings on police speed dectection units - they have been proven to have a big fine attached.

However, laser based systems which are actually used to open garage doors are altogether a more grey area. They happen to also interfere with the aforemention speed detection units.

Not sure quite how critical this was in the case linked to above, as his defence was that he didn't know it was fitted (d'oh!) - but
Quote:
There were no similar devices fitted to the door of his garage, which was used for storage. The LT400 can be bought as a car-only device or as one with a home fitting to go on a garage.
Judge Jacqueline Davies told Eady, who had driven more than 140,000 miles in the last four years: "I am satisfied that you took deliberate action in acquiring this equipment with a view to avoiding further points from a laser gun."

buyer, most definately beware (as they say)

Koen - I wasn't looking to point the finger at any previous posts, or posters - just making sure we didn't all go any much further down that particular road, as last time it all got rather heated

Speeding, camera detection, radar / laser dectectors and emitters - all very emmotive subjects which people tend to be rather passionate about.

And there is nothing wrong with that, as long as the debate all stays pretty civil

No problems K. I put the smilies in to my original post to try and convey a slightly light hearted reply.

I will admit to speeding, but I do try to stick fairly closely to the speed limits as much as possible. The reason I do this is not because of some righteous mission. It's because I don't want to lose my licence because there is no way I could do my job without the car.

Fortunately (?) we don't have that points-system here. When we get caught, we pay. The second time you get caught within a certain period, the "price" can be double. However, depending on how much you're over the limit, you can loose your license from 2 weeks to 1 year; 30 km/h over the limit can be enough.
In the 18 years that I drive I've had "only" 3 minor speeding tickets, all with my car, none with the bike. Knock on wood, 'cause with a bike, it only takes a split second to go wayyy of limits!
And if I really can't control myself, Germany is only 20 minutes away.

Didn't think this would illicit such a response (Sorry Guys!!!!), I don't generally go mad on busy roads or during school hours, but I like to use an open deserted stretch of motorway to full advantage whenever possible. And also the police are sneaky (no matter what they say, they do hide!!!!!!!!! And they don't place the signs correctly!). So I just fancied some protection. If I felt speed fines were used properly I'd have no problem, but I feel they arn't used properly (you've only got to look at the state of the roads round here!).
