9th Gen 2.2 Diesel Tuning box

Hi Guys
Have any of you had any dealings with tuning boxs? I dont want to go the remap route due to warranty ect.
The only one I have found so far that does the 9th Gen 2.2 is
CHIP Express @ £395 but Im sure that there will be others if I phone around.
What are your thoughts! are they worth it, is the claimed power/Torque valid? any input appriciated.
Many thanks for your input in advance

I have now had my chip box on from Chip Express for a good 2 and a bit months. I would suggest, that the throttle response has been hugely improved, as has the top end pull. I have not had it on a dyno so can't offer any figures of any description. I do know for sure, that I have no issues with overtaking on country lanes now, as I know, if I drop to third or fourth, then I am going to have no issues with getting past that pesky lorry, or worse, the caravan!!!!

*****Note*****
The box is an absolute %$^& to install due to the common rail plug being at
the rear of the engine bay. you either have to have hands the size of a 5 year old childs, or get someone else to fit it for you. Oh, and dont try and take it off unless you engine is STONE COLD, or you will likely get some serious burns to the inside of your forearms..... Take it from someone who was stupid enough to try removing it an hour after a journey!!!

Thanks Fraggle
I was begining to wonder if anyone had them fitted yet to the 9th Gen.
Looks like I might have to get my mate to fit it, he has hand of a small child, Mind you he acts like one when behind the wheel of his CTR.

Great point about the engine, will Def. take note of that one.
will be ordering at the end of the month.

Yeah I agree.

I went to a guy called Paul whose firm is Expert Tuning in Chaldon, Surrey.
Chose Expert Tuning because of the quality of Tuning Box he sells.

Anyway, turned out he couldn't do it because of the lack of room in the engine bay.

The general opinion is that tuning boxes are not as good as a remap, I belive that the dealer would not be able to detect a remap and that is probably the way to go. Why not drop Civinfo member F6HAD a pm, he will be able to advise.

Price is too high in my opinion, £600 or £500 if you go to them. Also, estimated bhp increase is only 36-37, unless DPF is removed.

I only let Celtic Tuning remap my cars. Unfortunately, currently they are unable to remap the 9th Gen but when they can, it will be £350 if you take it to them.
