dont take no for an answer from your dealers.

good luck guys
does all this start with the juddering sometimes or is this a trait with the dual mass flywheel and nothing to worry about? ive had no clutch slip yet and dont want any!!!

forgot to ask, how long does it take to change a clutch on the civic? & how many hours does the dealer quote?

hi guys.

the time quoted for a clutch replacement is approx 9 hours, my dealers labour charge is just over £100ph...ouch! other dealers charges will vary. it should be a warranty issue though. im affraid there is no adjustments that can be made due to it being a hydraulic system.

Thats how mine started in 3rd, although I had 42000 in mine. Its still ongoing at the dealers. It is a lot worse now that it was and I dont know how much longer its going to last.

HI there

forgive my ignorance...being a hydraulic system where it cant be adjusted...will bleeding the system improve the situation...or cant this be done..
My clutch isnt slipping however when i engage into first theres this delay period before i take off...lost some of its bite.
had this problem before but had the 30k service done and was fine for bout 6k until now...can you shed some light please.

I have noticed this on mine too, but thought it was just my imagination.

Happens when accelerating hard up hill, such as onto the motorway, especially third gear. Mine has only covered 13500 miles.

Think I will mention this at next service.

Honda Tech

The ones you have replaced, were they all diesels? Were they a particular reg/vin range?

Regards

Chris

2yr old civic, clutch started slipping about 3k miles ago, seems to be random, sometimes it slips and sometimes its fine, doesn't seem to correspond to engine temp or driving conditions. I've been quoted £700 for a replacement which is frustrating as the parts (Honda originals) only cost about £150. Unfortunately like most I will have to fork out the money at some point but I WILL BE SEEING THE OLD PLATES. Apart from the clutch I love the car.

Standard
Galaxy Grey i-CTDi ES, glass roof

Also, when will Honda come out with an auto box for the deisel?

You have gotta be joking, forking out for another clutch? !! There are posts on here from a Honda Technician, saying there has been faulty parts, you need to read them before you part with any cash. Mine goes in next week and I am certainly not paying. What milage do you have, mines at 50k, should not have problems yet. Never had before with any other car. What have they said about it??

Clutch slipping

Clutch on my civic 2.2 diesel currently being replaced by honda uk (slipping at 26000miles along with some good will after a call to honda uk about the inconvenience of 18 warranty issues since new

Rear shocks, windscreen check engine fault - new wiring loom windscreen, driver window, boot struts, petrol cap, etc

Still hopefully everything is sorted now.

I have just spoken with the Honda dealership in Stockport who have never heard of this issue with the clutch. I've booked it in for them to take a look at it at the end of the month. It seems strange to me that they haven't heard of what appears to be a known problem. They will get their one chance, if they don't fix this under warranty (or attempt to) it will be my last visit to them.

Did you get the clutch replaced under warranty and if so which dealer did you get it done at. I am trying to build up some evidence to back up my claim that its a warranty issue with my dealer.

Ive got the same problem with Amathyst Honda, Gloucester. Dont know anything about it, have tried telling them about this site. They do not seem interested and investigate their own way !! If you ask me this is a ticking timebomb waiting to go off with a lot of diesels going to have clutch probs. I guess as its still a newish car its only time before lots of people start having problems with it. Mines done 50k, but I see others with a lot less. As already posted mine is in today for 3 days, lets see what they come back with. They still have not acknowledged its the clutch yet!! Will let you all know what happens.

Just given mine a hard drive to London and back (approx. 400 miles (work)) and no clutch slip whatsoever, even when accellerating hard up hills from low in the rev range. Does it need to be driven hard to work properly (surely not)?

Nope, it just not do it all of the time, I think thats what confuses them at the dealers a bit !! They ahve had mine dash off looking at the pedals and I think at last have conceded that its the clutch. They want me now to take it in a soon as it does it and the head techy will come out, then its off with the clutch to see what lurks inside. they have told me that if the plates are worn, it will not be warranty. But I know it wont so I am not worried by that. It looks like I am getting somewhere at last. Anyone else with anything to report ??
