This thread is about: Gearbox oil level, it's in Engines and Transmission at the Honda Civic forum Civinfo; Am I missing something ............how do we check the oil level in the Gearbox ? I have checked everywhere.........got no clue, I must be missing ...

Gearbox oil level

Am I missing something ............how do we check the oil level in the Gearbox ? I have checked everywhere.........got no clue, I must be missing something !!

1.8 i-shift ES

You should not need to check the oil in your gear box. Unlike the engine, the gear box does not 'consume' oil ordinarily and thus it only needs checking at services.

there should be a little viewing window or bolt to take out to check, but the car would need to be level so you cant just use a normal carjack to get the car up.

in modern cars the gearbox oil is expected to last the life of the gearbox or at least 80k miles, so i wouldnt worry about checking it unless there are signs of leaking from the gearbox.

Yes, the gearbox level is not a routine check most manufacturers expect owners to carry out.
