Oil Warning Light

Hi all - had a funny one yesterday driving down the M1 from leeds to coventry. Having topped up the oil 0.5l of Magnatec 10w/40 approx 3000miles ago I was surprised to see the oil warning come on.

I stopped checked the oil level (seemed fine to me was about 25% up between the 2 levels - even checked it 3 times to make sure) and bought a litre of Shell helix 5w/40 from the service station. Put in 0.5l and continued with everything OK (warning off).

Just wondered if anyone new why the oil level warnign may come on when th oil level seemed fine -Would it be the Magnatec oil viscosity or any other ideas??

The warning is for oil pressure and not oil level, there might be something wrong with the oil pump (but hopefully it's yet another computer bug). I'd get the punp checked though before grinding down my engine
