Pottsy,
Don't Revo tend to specialise in VAG engines? Or is there an option for the Civ? I went for Superchips with my Alhambra as the diff was minimal and the price wasn't (130 to 170PS)

(My neighbour who likes to keep up with the Jones (me) has just bought a 1.4 Golf knocking out 170PS as standard!!!) Need a serious top trump!!!!!

(why do I fall for this????)

Yes, the 150-190 conversion by Revo was on the Golf, not the Civ. Superchips did the Civ - claimed 140 to 170, but have yet to get it on the rollers to see the truth.

Maybe this is what everybody is looking for ...

http://www.celtictuning.co.uk/vehicl...ne-tuning.html

All done via the OBD port. No tuning box required. I asked a few questions and got this reply:

Quote:
Thank for your enquiry.

As one of the UK's leading tuning companies we can provide for all your electronic and mechanical tuning requirements. As we write and develop our own software it allows us to tailor our maps to suit every individual requirement.

The 2.2 CDTi engines we can take from 138bhp up to 185bhp and from 251lbft torque up to 336lbft torque giving a very impressive performance gain and all within safe design tolerance of the engine and drive train components.

All of our software has been developed on the rolling road for performance accuracy, reliability and to ensure MOT compliance for emissions.

The cost of the remap is £425 all inclusive for which we travel to your location whether it is home or work place. This comes with 14 day money back guarantee which gives you plenty of time to ensure it is exactly what you are after.

The remap is undetectable due to the fact that the main dealers do not have the equipment to be able to pull the information off of the ecu they only have equipment to communicate with error codes or to load a default update. Even if they were able to pull off the information they would need to have the knowledge to interpret the information. Thirdly they are unable to compare the information to a standard file due to EDC16 ecu's changing parameters within the software whilst you drive in order to learn to your driving style. The only way that the software is going to be detectable is if the ecu is sent back to Bosch to be interrogated. To date this has never happened.

If you wish to go ahead with the remap please forward us your contact details (address, Post Code and Phone number) and we will be in touch. Alternatively if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Regards,

Tony

Hi Audi, what can you tell me about the mapping process and how can you squeeze and engine for another 47bhp without any side effects? This remap from Celtic sounds awsome! but a bit to good to be true. Whatever I decide, I will be running mine in nice and steady before I commit. Any advise would be appreciated though.

Thanks

Hi all,

I don't want to put a dampener on this but, is a 47 bhp claimed increase realistic.
Also, I was considering using these guys to 'chip' my previous car but what put me off was the fact that there is no info. on their website about who you are actually dealing with i.e. no company/business name, no address etc. only an e-mail address and a mobile number.
Call me Mr Skeptical, but I would be careful about these mobile tuning operations as I have heard some nightmare stories.

Superchips have been doing ECU re-maps for about 20 years, they have a lot of expertise, I have used them more than once and they do the job at your home so you can see whats being done.
48BHP is the average improvement and it will NOT harm your new car I have chip tuned £50K+ new cars of my own.
The smooth powerfull improvements are worth while, recent improved techneques have made this job quick and easy and untracable.

PS) Running in!!!! you would not need to worry about running in, you will feel improvements way before the red-line, just drive it normal your honda dont need running in.
The guys that delivered it probably thrashed the B*lls off it round the parking area where it was stored anyway.

I've found another company http://www.e-maps.co.uk, which offers 170PS and 400 lbft torque from a re-map.

I'm considering the 2.2 iCDTi Civic as my next lease car, but it's up against the 170PS Audi A3 and a BMW 320d M Sport. If I can get the Civic tuned to 170PS+, then I suspect it will be the winning (and the cheaper) option.

I'm still not convinced by their claim thats theres ''nothing to give a warranty on''. What if something did go wrong would a simple reset button send everything back to as it was? I doubt it.

Be interesting to now what sort of money though these guys are charging
