No shouldn't be any damage. Thats the reason for having a rev limiter.

Gives you a bit of a shock though when it happens

shouldn't be any damage at all. thats the point of the limiter, so you dont damage it, just dont go into the wrong gear when downshifting , thats when you got problems

Nothing will happen to your car if you hit the rev limiter. That is the reason of having one.
The only problem with it is that it stops the pleasure...and a high revving honda engine is a joy machine!
I always think though that the engine can give more.

Does anyone know at what revs the limiter kicks in in a diesel?

A few days ago I managed to get my engine running at close to 5000 RPM for about 10 seconds (way in the red zone) after accelerating hard in 3rd gear. I didn't notice the limiter activating, so maybe it's above 5000 RPM?

I think its about 5500 rpm for the diesel. I know i've hit it a few times showing boy races a clean pair of wheels at the lights.

Almost cacked myself when I hit it for the first time in my Type R, was in second gear going round a corner which is why it shocked me so much.

Dont know about the Type R but my 2.2 needs it in 1st gear. Seems like by the time you have pushed the throttle to the floor you need 2nd already. Mind you there is little point in reving a diesel hard as it actually slows your progress. Fun though

It'll just get there quicker as well.

I was always hitting the Rev Limiter in Don-R's EP3 CTR. It wasn't my fault the co. demo I had was virtually new and had only 200 miles on it.

Mine took ages to get up near the red line. Don's was broken in by 16,000 miles of hard acceleration and absolutely flew to the redline.
