fuel consumption on a sunday afternoon

Not representative of everyday driving conditions, but interesting as some have been dissapointed (especially the Type S) with their fuel economy;anyway, covered approx 10 miles today, restricted by 40 mph speed limits and 'sunday drivers',with some bursts up to 55-60.Result was an indicated average 64 mpg.Certainly there if you can keep the turbocharger in check.

Yeh I'm the same - I have to try hard to get early 40's. Not that impressed with the 38-42mpg I get. But then I can get 550 miles out of a tank...

Sambuca,
550 miles on a tank gives about 45 MPG (50 litre tank = 12.2 gallons), if the tank were to be completely emptied.
From my experience there is usually a good 0.5 gallons left even when showing empty, so the MPG is probably over 47.

Cheers,

Terry

Terry,

Sorry to be picky but 50 litres is 11 Gallons (Assuming 1 Gallon = 4.54609 litres)

So that would give 50 mpg (assuming he leaves it that late to top up)

Mine takes 45 litres when the miles to go shows 0, so 550 miles on tank would be about 55mpg!

I would have thought most people would be happy at that! - I know I am!

Cheers
Dylan

My petrol Type S is currently showing 47.8mpg.

Though I have been down the M1 (165 miles) over Easter.

Dylang:
Very true....I was doing a rough calculation with a gallon = 4.5 litres.
I did wonder if the Type-S had a larger fuel tank, but the spec sheet says 50litres.
I'm disappointed if I don't get better than 45MPG, but I tend to drive using the green lights, not the orange ones!
Cheers,

Terry
