Question i-Shift 0-100?

Hello everybody

I am currently considering getting a new Civic (still undecided wether to go for 1,8 / 1,8 i-shift / 2,2D).

I was wondering if the 0-100 time they give for the i-Shift is in auto-mode? Is it faster if shifted on the paddles?

Is there anyone who has timed their i-Shift 0-100 in paddle-mode?

Has anyone tried tuning a car with the i-Shift, and if so, how does the transmission handle the extra power?

I'm guessing that is 0-60mph, 0-100kph?

as to tuning - no one has yet found any real way of adding much (if any) power to the 1.8 engine

filter panels for the airbox, and possibly a new exhaust, but no major gains (yet)

It would be interesting to see if anyone has noticed an improvement in acceleration after the latest software install...

welcome aboard though

yes, 0-100kph. But 0-60mph times is just as fine

it does seem to have ( a bit ) more torque in lower rpm's since my vtec update, but its possible i only think that because the car is much smoother now

I have no idea how it is timed, but I am sure the car would be quicker in manual mode because you can time the up shift just as the engine runs out of revs. It shouldn't make a huge difference anyway, because I THINK that the Civic will hit 60mph in second gear, so only one change is needed.

In normal driving conditions, using manual mode, I would say that with the latest i-shift software the car is now almost as fast as one with the manual box.

TT, most times are now quoted as 0-62mph, which is.... 0-100kph, or as close as makes no odds

The car does feel faster with the new software, purely down to the fact that you don't wait for an ice age to pass whilst it changes gear

The i-VTEC manage 100 km/h in 2nd (at about 6400 rpm I think).

it doesn't say, it just says 0-62mph 1.8 type-s manual=8.9 - ishift=10.9. i presume it means in its fastest mode, because honda wouldn't quote one figure if its possible to do it faster!!!

Which means that the paddle shift from 1st to 2nd takes two seconds!
This cannot be right - automatic mode?

I have the 1.8 type s i shift and my mate has a types 1.8 manual and running side by side upto 60mph/100kph their nose to nose but from 60-80 the manual is fractionaly quicker so where honda gets its two seconds from we dont know, since the i shift upgrade we have both noticed that the i shift is quicker down country lanes round tight bends the upshift and downshift is a lot quicker than it used to be , i have noticed in the past week or two the clutch appears to be slipping in damp / wet conditions will have to check forum posts to see if anybody else mentoines it.

Smile 0-60 in 7.1

I have managed 0-60 in 7.1 seconds using the paddle shifts which when running against a manual civ seems to be quicker rather than slower.

Are we talking about mph here
Because if we are, that is going into GTI/Type R territory.

I would keep this quiet if I were you. The insurance companies think it takes over 10 sec. If they knew they might put up the insurance premiums

So the two seconds slower i-shift,is the old value from the then much slower shift in auto mode. Sounds more like it.

The official figures are real - no in car speedo involved

Home brewed figures can be real - it's possible to buy the right bits of kit

But even if using the optimistic Civ speedo, the extra 4 or 5mph needed to get to a real 62mph isn't going to take a huge amount of time longer.
