The dreaded clicking noise from down under.

I have a clicking noise coming from under the front of the car for a month or so. It only happens when you pull away, or slow down. It doesn't happen over bumpy roads, just click at start then click when you stop. I have looked at the wiki under faults and they recommend that the front sub frame is replaced. The car has only done 8500 miles. I have booked it into the dealers for two days next week for investigation. Dose anybody know exactly what part of the suspension is faulty? It will save me a lot of heart ache and worry when the dealer starts to pull my car apart

hi russell, ive got a type s, covered 13000 miles now, and have had that problem since as long as i can remember, you can hear it more when the windows are down, and to be plainly honest, it sounds bl~ody *****. i hate the clicking noise that happens every time i pull off, slow down over speed bumps or slow down at give-way signs...it generally sounds off putting...let me know if you find a remedy, or anyone else that can shed light on it...i wish this was something simple that could get sorted!

Hi f.ss.t I really like my Civic and hate the thought of the dealer pulling it apart to find this annoying fault and irritation. The trouble is once it goes in to rectify one fault,it comes back with something else wrong with it. I know this sounds a bit negative, but I am convinced nobody in these dealers gives a "monkeys" when it comes to looking after your car. Still it's booked in for next Thursday and Friday, I will let you know the outcome.

mate, i feel exactly the same way, ive got a type S right, ive had an r spoiler put on and skirts painted, since then...ive taken the car back twice for skirts to be put on/clipped on better, and the spoiler when painted and buffed - they managed to buff off some paint revealing the primer underneath..now at present, ive spent nearly 3k on my civic...and im 19 years old now, just turned. i take great pride in having a car like this at my age, but im constantly back at honda, when they painted my skirts they dinted my boot aswel, so had to go back for that... im pretty sure theyr sick of my face now, i wish theyd do the job right first time. the problem is, i have exams now at university, and to be honest id like honda to do 3 jobs for me... fix the handbreak cover - as it has loads of chips on it
2- sort out the dashboard creek noise
3- sort out the 'subframe' problem because it sounds awful...
thing is im meant to be concentrating on exams, not running back and forth to honda, once exams are over next month, im seriously gonna give them a talking to! keep thinking this wouldnt have happened with a BM or Audi...

Great news the clicking has gone. The mechanic found a bolt loose on the cross member. The bolt goes from the cross member into the front sub frame. It is obviously located under the car just left of the drivers feet. No parts needed.
