Running in a diesel

Hi all,

Quick new car related question - Can anyone supply a link or info on running in a diesel?

Previous new cars have all been petrol so I'm intrested in whether the running in times/rev limits are the same or different!

Any answers greatly received and apologies if this subject has been covered elsewhere in the forum - I can't seem to find any related posts as the search function doesn't like the word 'in'!

Cheers!

same as petty cars i think - first 600 miles just gradually increase the revs
few short sharp bursts of high revving won't do it any harm too
and don't keep it at a constant rev for this time

I got told to keep it off the red line and you will be fine... However I kept it below 3000 RPM and drove gentlly when cold. You will find the engine a dream especially when its run in!! Only downside to the diesel is the heating takes a long time to work as it takes longer for the engine to warm up! Lucky for me I have heated seats!

Best of Luck

Thanks all - Loved the Wiki article - very interesting!

I'll go for a bizarre A-road accelerate - decelerate 200 mile tour! Ordered my sticker so if see a black Civic driving erratically down a back road near you – It could be me!!!

Haha!! Thanks for the info peeps!
