still getting used to the I-Shift so might increase when i learn to drive it more econonically, - but 32-38 seems the avg range 44 on a long run was my highest,
20 mile stretch of road, going 65mph

Ahhh, I shift, yours will I suppose be lower by comparison as the computer judges the changes rather than you. It should get better over time.

If that 44 mpg was in top gear, then that sounds very low even for petrol.

But it also sound like the car is about a month or so old and it won't be run it and if it is the engine still has a it to go. We all seem to notice better mpg the more miles we put on the clock.

No, but as the i-shift is a clutchless manual rather than a full auto, at a steady speed it should make no difference.

Don't think it works like that. I've believe that it can take roughly ten seconds for the gears to change after selecting a change so thing like this, plus if your not used to it and only just getting used to it all makes a difference. The guy is learning a whole new car and way of driving with the i-Shift so I would say he's getting not too bad mpg from it.

10 seconds for a gear change would mean 0-60 in about a week?-

And yeah its not even a month old, 4-5 days - 360 miles on the clock,

Not quite and it does have a slower 0-62 (as thats what they quote not 0-60) time than the other 1.8's in its class with a manual box with clutch in fact they quote 8.9 seconds for the manual and 10.4 seconds for the i-Shift! Thats 1.5 seconds which okay isn't that much slower but it just proves that it isn't as responsive as you may think!

I'm guessing you are aware that its not as responsive as the manuals? When I change gear it changes gear, when you select to change gear it thinks about it for several seconds before actually doing it. Some people have said it can take upto 10 seconds. The i-Shift has been slated due to this last time I heard it being slated was in the Sunday times, even some dealers wouldn't recommend it

Well only other option is a CVT hybrid and will that ever do 62mph? lol.

I had looked at a Renult megane 1.9DCI, Ford focus 1.6l petrol, Vauxhall Astra 1.8, golf 2.0l DSG was out as was too expensive, - a Citroen C4 picasso VTR+, but the civic came out on top.

I do find the Ishift fairly unsafe if in full auto mode but its fairly quick in manual mode, quicker than i could change in a full manual with clutch .

hi there,
just wanted to ask if there there is anyone else getting the same as me. im gettin 31mpg max. i do mainly town driving to and from work in sheffield. rang dealer and they say fill up and do 60 miles then refill and take a reading of the two as the computer isnt always right. i change gear about 3000rpm as another civinfo member said to try this. also i dont have a heavy foot as want to get the most mpg as its not cheap for petrol nowadays. ive got a 1.8 civic sport 5 door. had it just over 6 months so thought it might be better by now as it will have been bedded in abit more.
please could you advise me where im going wrong as honda say 35-41mpg?
thanks

Have you done a trip of trip A, which is the one you will trip when you fill up and Trip B? As if you havn't its giving you a reading over the WHOLE lifetime of the car or since trip B was tripped.

I found that I was getting 22.1 mpg then I reset B and watched the MPG go up instantly. Give this a try if you haven't already done so

I'm in Bristol as well Dave, and I find with our traffic problems and a light foot I can squeeze about 32 ish so similar to you. On a long run I get well in excess of 40.

thats more like mine, i have no idea where people are getting over 400! how? i had one tank that was about 260miles and my driving style wasnt different, although i did a couple of trips with a fully loaded car but it shouldnt make that much difference...

i drive between 2k and 2.5k 90% of the time. and i get about 300 miles to the tank, maybe 330 if mostly motorways.

when i have a brisk drive and go above 4.5k, i notice i get less miles per tank when refilling.
