Fuel Gauge

I picked my civic up on friday, done 160 mile on the free full tank so far,
i says 280ish miles left on the tank and the gauge is about 1/4 of the way between the half and full, - does this seem about right or is it going down too quick?

Avrage mpg is about 37mpg -

Brand new? If so thats rather good, even if its not and its already run in thats still good. 440 is what has been quoted by others with the 1.8

You'll notice that it seems to read full or almost full for a good bit then all of sudden it drops which seems to be the case here I think. It seems like a drop more than a gradual curve.

Its normal

Sounds about right, my 1.8 ex is the same.....seems to go all of a sudden, but I do like to drive it quite hard, so I suppose thats to be expected.

No, doesn't sound like the type R, but I get a nice wooshing sound when the v-tec kicks in!
I do feel the pull, and am more than happy with the performance.

You will learn as you explore more that the V-tec in your Civic works to give you better consumption, where as the V-tec in my Type R kicks in to give performance and lower consuption (whilst drinking oil also) and thats why we have the V-tec indicator along with the roar

One of the guys at the Civic meet was explaining all about the V-tec in the other models, how sad we all must have looked sitting having a coffee talking about this. Have you heard a Type R, Sounds amazing from the inside and out! My mate made me stand at the back door of my house just so he could V-tec his Type R and I could hear what it sounds like from outside. I'm guessing i'll have to return the favour at some point

Yeah, I've got a 1.8 EX and average around 38-40 mpg, depending on how I'm driving and for how long! A tank average of about 440 miles, if that helps. That's from a 07 model on a 56 plate!

I drove 50 miles in London traffic jams last Saturday. The journey took 5 hours. I averaged 28 mpg which I thought was excellent.

It depends on your definition of: 'i am not driving it hard'
