I had a Remus Powersound exhaust on my Civic 1,8 Sport for a while.

I swapped back to the original though, as I found the Remus to be just a little too noisy.

I guess it's an OK sound, its' just that I'm 36, and occationally driving around with the wife and kids too, and then it was a little over the edge with the continous "powersound".

It might have added a little encrease in HP, but not much... The pipes are bigger, and it has valves that adjust to the pedal. (More speeder, more airflow)

I am also interested in the Remus PowerSound exhaust, could you answer me a couple of questions? As far as I know, the exhaust should have a manually adjustable valve, which controls the intensity of the sound. What setting did you use? You found the sound over the edge for day-to-day driving in the quietest mode too? Was it noisy by your standards only under accelaration or also when cruising?

What was the character of the sound, was it completely different from the stock one or similar? I am especially interested to know if the original exhaust's booming sound around 4000-5000RPM was gone, and whether such a booming appeared at different RPM too. Thanks.

I've placed the remus exaust today and it's a good sound.
the exaust is adjustable( mine is fully open off course).
It gives for a first appinion a good starting sound and a nice sound around 2500tr/min and 4000-5000tr/min.
But its really not so loud as i thought.
My previous car (a civic from 1997) was much louder.
Dous the remus exaust increase in noise around some time or does it stay like in the beginning?

Jelle308: What I have heard, the sound of a new exhaust should develope a little, but not dramatically.

Did you try closing the valve too? How big is the difference? Is the Remus quiet when cruising (comparing to the stock one, which is quiet under 4000RPM and loud over 4000RPM)?

When cruising on the speedway between 2600 and 4000 it's very quiet! there is no difference with original then.
If you go around 4000 it's more agressive then with the original...

But i like it.
It's not TO loud . It's a very nice noise.

p.s. sorry for bad english
grtz

I totally disagree.... it sounds like we have different systems!? Mine is called Remus "powersound" I believe, and i think the valves adjusts themselves automatically.

The sound is very different than stock, even in idle... The more you push the car, the more noise it makes though... Like the original, it increases noticabilly around 4000rpm.

The sound isn't "bad", but it is clearly different..... well that's my opinion anyways... not necessary a fact =O)

Why would you buy an exhaust without finding out if you got more BHP?

Jelle308: Thanks, how easy is to adjust the valve? Could you try to close it and see whether it gets more quiet when cruisng around 4000RPM? I was hoping that I could close the valve for longer trips on the highway and open it for a more sporty ride for fun.

And is there a difference in sound in high revs (5000-7000RPM)?
