Engine Rattle

I have noticed a loss of performance and a change in the engine sound of my Type-R following filling up at a garage last week. I noticed tonight that the engine sounded more wheezy, and when parked up idling I lifted the bonnet to hear a rattling noise in the engine. Obviously I am going to get in contact promptly with the garage but I wanted to check whether anybody had run into similar problems and what the outcome was. Would engine faults be covered in the warranty? Is there any maintenance that needs to be done on the engine (e.g. change the oil) in the first 8 months?

Thanks in advance.

Have you topped up the oil level in the last 8 months?

Yes, I'd check your oil before you take it into the dealers.

I have checked it a couple of times, once recently. Isn't there a low oil indicator anyway?

as long as you have checked it...
there is a low oil pressure indicator
which is when it is too late !!!! (bad decision by Honda)

VTEC thrives on oil
it won't engage properley when the oil is cold or the oil level is low
keep an eye on it mate

are you sure this is coming from the belt?
Do you only hear it when the car is driving or also when stationary?
I WOuldnt fly to the dealers straight away but if this keeps reoccuring then you might have to go....

well if its that easy to reproduce, then i suggest a quick stop to the dealer and let them them hear the noise. They'll probably know whats going on and you can make an appointment if necassary.
Good luck with it
