They're both the same, well in terms of placement and trims anyway.

And if I was selling one privately, i'd say it made it go faster, enhance your love-life and cook you breakfast if i thought it'd make you buy it too.

I can do you a try before you buy if you wanted to come up to Peterborough, took me hour and a half to change the system over. I have a full standard Type R System circa £200. if interested.

EDIT: Bugger, read the wrong posters location. Manc to Peteboghorror is quite a way.

Excatly ADE! I did think of the APB thread and you not being able to get the Milltek when I read this. So it doesn't make a difference if it makes a difference to sound and performance as it wont fit anything other than a FN2!

Stella did you fit the Milltek yourself?

Good stuff......if that was on the drive if I could get my uncles garage and use the ramps I could probably do it in slightly less time.

Got to say the I don't know for sure, but I would be amazed if the headers were the same.

As to from where the header meets the rest of the system - then I guess there is a chance the joins might all be in the same places.

But I'm not sure what advantages there might be for swapping a standard S system for a standard R system?

Isn't it to do with the Cats and such? As the cat in the CTR is in a totally different place to where they are on the 1.8.

I'm also guessing that the guy selling the Type R Exhaust has pobably fitted a Milltek or HKS system and so the part of the system he is selling won't fit anything else other than the CTR

could be angie

Agree on the probable reason for the sale, just not 100% sure if the std R system would fit an S or not - or why anyone might want to do that anyway

Well the Milltek & HKS Systems will not fit anything other than the FN2 as its a straight swap. When ADE took his car to ABP they couldn't fit the Milltek as it won't fit as they are different systems. So 100% sure that they are different

looking at these 2 pics:

Milltek R

I would agree - the problem is with the CAT is.

But even if the CATs were in the same place, I still can't see any advantage of swapping a std S system for a std R system

My My TT you have been a busy boy! Yeah, still couldn't see it making a difference unless the tail pipes on the CTR one were slightly larger and even then thats not going to have the effect of turning it into a CTR

I could claim that it took me the whole 7 1/2 hours to find that - but actually I was asleep for most of it
