If you want the best mpg, use a 0w-20, but they are really expensive and the car is likely to burn so much that it will not really save you any money overall. Probably best to go for a 0w-30.

All of those are good oils, but the Gulf and Redline are the best ones.

Cheers

Tim one more question that i can't find answer for, Im gonna go for Motul 8100 X-Clean 5w30 but there's also X-Clean plus 5w30 which one should i choose?

Both are ACEA C3 - API SM/CF and be used instead of ACEA A3/B3 or A3/B.4. (shell(probably crappy) that i used was A3/B.4).

Either are fine, the difference is the VW504/507 spec that the X-Clean plus meets and that doesn't affect your car.

Hi

Full synthetic and and a Hamp filter is fine, there's no need to go for a K&N unless you really want one.

The materials used in them, giving the PS a higher flow rate, but for an unmodified road car that isn't important.

Cheers

Eneos

Hi All!

Personally I have tried a couple of oils and found that ENEOS Racing oil suits my FN2 the best. The car was needing a top off too often ( imo) I drive my car quite aggressively considering how people drive here in Greece. The hot summer climate here doesn't help at all. Found the car running smoother and top off much, much less. I think the ENEOS is best suited for the Honda engine.
My FN2 is:
2007 07 plate
Hondata Flash Pro set at the simple set-up
no other engine mods
just installed the Eiach camber bolts (spot on)

Best regards
George

Hi Oilman,

Just want some quick advice on something.
Just about to top up the engine oil on my 2008 CTR (bought some Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5W-40 from Opie a couple of weeks ago after your advice).

I'm just wondering, is that okay to add if I have something different in at the minute? I'm assuming it's currently running 0w30 as per the handbook. Wasn't sure if this os okay to mix?

Thanks,

Hi

Thanks for the order. Yes, it's fine to mix oils, so no problem in using the Pro S for top ups.

Cheers

I had to do an emergency buy from a shell garage. I ended up buying 5ltre of the shex Helix Ultra 5w40. Used just over 1ltre.
Is this oil ok for my car?

Civic 1.8 SE on a 56 plate. 54K on the clock.

When I got the car I took their service plan also. I suspect they use really cheap oil. I have one service left. My plan is to let them do the service (its already paid for) then after a week or so get my local garage to do a engine flush.

If the Helix 5w40 is ok I plan to buy a couple more litres and a UFI filter for after the flush leaving me with a litre topup.

Does this sound ok?

How much oil is required for a oil change?

Thanks

you might wanna try ENEOS. I use Eneos for my CTR and are very good. Don't need to top as much at all. They are suitable for your 1.8 no prob.

Hi

The Shell is fine for your car, it's a good oil.

According to my data, it takes 3.7L.

Cheers

Thanks Tim. First time I've ever had an oil light come on and bricked it a bit. The 5ltre from shell garage cost me £47 so would like to make use of it.

Whats your thoughts on a engine flush after running a week with whatever Arnold Clark use?

Yes, make use of that 5w-40. You should find that it won't burn much as the garage was probably putting in a 0w-30 or 5w-30, which burn off easier.

No need to flush (and flushes can be too harsh), just make sure the oil is nice and warm when it's let out.

Cheers

Flashing is something I would reccomend if the engine exhibits some loss of power and fuel consumption is high. Keep in mind that after a flash (you will need a very thin oil for something like that) you could experience some problems like excessive oil consumption.

I will second the idea of using the ENEOS products. I have used for a couple of years the 0W20 grade and I am more than satisfied.
