another about fuel economy..

I have to say that I´m getting more and more pleased with the Civic..

Refueled on sunday.. and these pictures were taken yesterday..

Very close to factory numbers..

Photo-0170.jpg

Photo-0171.jpg

this morning it showed 6,7L/100km and 680-690km to refuel with nearly 130km driven..

gotta love that car.. my old Peugeot struggled with getting over 550-600km on a 60+L tank

Hope that does as much as it says but I suppose you filled up all the pipe to the cap. As soon as you drive a bit more it will fall down. BTW i got over 800 once I filled up till the end.

Yes i filled it up to the cap.. this is not the first time its been showing those numbers... I drive 85-90% of the time on the motorway..

On the way to work I have 1km to the highway, and 20+km, then 8-10km on a countryroad with speedlimit of 80 km/h.. Besides that we have a little bit of city driving..

the longest I´ve driven was 660+km on 45-47Liters.. can´t remember..

but looking forward to seeing what numbers I´ll be getting..

Wow,amazing numbers but then something is "wrong" with my tank because when I fill about 47-48l computer show me about 560 km to go. Why is that I don't know?

you will not succeed in doing the miles it predicts
not even when driving like a granny
once i had an (estimated) range of 840 km(!!!) in my 1.8, yet it has never taken me further then 650 km on one tank which i still find good for a petrol. My car is now in for service and i have asked to check the trip computer cause i find the overreading of the range a real pain in the ass. If i dont floor it once on the entire fuel tank it will still have a range of 180 km when there is only left for 80 km.
This is how it usually goes
After fuel up it preditcs 650 ish km
After 100 km driving range has gone up tot 720 ish km
Fuel range stays high all the time except when doing a short hard acceleration, then it drops by 200 km(??) and it doesnt go up again, so no real logic there. I would except to go lower after hard accerations and then go up again if you drive econimical again.
i'll see what the honda guys tell me when i pick her up again tonight.

well i came damn close to the listed numbers.. here´s almost the final result before refueling.. had done 659,7km at the time of refueling..

Billede035.jpg

Billede036.jpg

this is the 2.nd time I´ve done those km on a tank.. had done 660,4 before..

could have gone further but had a bit of city driving and then it told me 0km to refuel and had to be safe since I had to go to work later on sunday.. a 32km drive each way..

when I recalculated I found out that the AVG /100km said I had used 44.11L but I refueled 47,31L..

given that I have driven between 13,94km/l and 14,95km/l.. not bad for a car with 225/40-18..

When the tank closes empty, I find that the predicted remaining km is ticking down almost twice the rate of km actually covered.
I.e. when it predicts 100 km left, I only have 50 km before the predicted mileage hits zero.

on a run yesterday, 1.8 averaged 53 mpg over 57 miles. Gentle driving with a mix of 60% motorway and 40% b roads. excellent for a 1.8. some diesels would struggle to match that.

I averaged 55.1 over 266 miles 40% motorway and 60% Town/City driving.

Not bad considering it's only done 2000 miles

Mine currently says i am doing 6,5 L/100 km.
73 km done on this tank of fuel, never done more then 10 km per drive
Last week i even managed 4,8 L/100 km on a 60 km drive, speed was always a constant 70 or 90 km/h.
Since i passed the 10000 km marker, fuel economy is improving drastically.

Still room for improvement, but you’ll see that when you get to know the car better, and the car gets some km under the belt.

My record so far is 760 km on one tank and room for 45,43l, so 836 km should be possible. And other one that landed on 746 km and with room for 42,92l, so 869 km if I took it all the way.

I’ve seen 4,2L/100km on mine and do have a picture showing 4,4L/100km, just have to get it out of my mobile phone. But yes Honda often get at much better economy out of there engines than the competition, my average is 15,72 km/l over the first 28564 km (16” winter and 17” summer).

Well thats impressive to say the least
Allthough i am driving economially, the highest mileage was no more then 630 km, calculating the remainig 5 liters when it normally says it can still do 0 km would make that i might pass the 700 marker. But still good enough for me
How would you describe your driving style? I drive slow with an occasional burst of revs (the car just loves it when you do that)

I think my driving style is relaxed.. sometimes a little aggressive/fresh.. i always enjoy to drive.. its pure pleasure.. even more now that we have the Civic..

when driving on the motorway i relax.. and try too keep it that way in the city..

just refueled again.. thís time the drive home from the gas station gave me these numbers..

Photo-0192.jpg

when i parked at home a few hundred meters later it said 6,0L/100km..

the trouble is when i drive to work i have only approx.1km to the motorway.. and on a cold engine thats gotta cost some fuel.. then 10km on a B-road i guess you can call it.. speedlimit 70/80 km/h.. drive 115 displayed km/h on the motorway which is excactly 110 km/h on gps..

and in the daytime my wife drives it to work 5 km..

Have done 30 000 km by now. Gentle extra urban driving return 5,4 or 5,5 l/100 km, while more inspired driving on some bendy coast roads I know of return 6,1 - 6,2 l/100 km.
My real consumption is 8% higher than these computer data.
Total average consumption over the 18 months I owned the car is 7,0 l/100 km.

It's very good for a petrol car, but then again the 1.4 is in premier league of low CO2 emissions so I suppose you expected it

I have found that if you don't use the 1st gear very long then fuel economy is greatly improved
