DBW, what is your experience ?
Can anyone demonstate that Drive-by-wire does actually adapt to the way they drive ?. I cannot detect anything that suggests it is doing anything at all. When changing gear the revs just drop away, when I expected them to hold briefly, then move up or down according to the new gear selection.
All this DBW technology appears to do for me is add that "characteristic" delay when accelerating, I don't understand the hype. |

given that I can't recall exactly what it is supposed to do, I can't prove if it is or not
But - to be honest, unless I knew it was dbw, I would have assumed it was just normal drive by cable - which could be taken as either a good thing, or not, I guess |

I love it.
Had it in my 2004 clio too, so had a few years to get used to it. It fantastic in the civic, really reads my driving style well (and that changes a lot). 1st gear in a pain with it tho, but so too was my clio and a charactistic of DBW at low speeds (less than 10mph) i guess. |

TTDegs,
Yes, that's my point, I hardly notice it. Something comes to mind about the King's magic suit of clothes. Stu iow, Please can you quantify what you like about it, say compared to a throttle cable, which would not have these 1st gear idiosyncrasies ?. Last edited by pcr; 19th October 2006 at 21:46. |

Gear change is smoother compared to cable, as this drive by wire keeps the revs just right when changing gear. This in turn gives you great power when shifting i have found.
When in traffic with cbale accelerator, i found using first gear wasn't jumpy with slight movement of the accelerator, but with DBW, the slightest movement bounces the car, so its jsut a matter of controller the bouncing. |
