CDTI Idle Revs

Just had my first service and the car seems to be revving much higher at idle so much so that in a traffic queue I don't need to apply gas at all to move along.

Can you diesel owners tell me roughly what revs your car is doing when sitting in neutral mine was about 500 now ssems to be nearer 1000. Is this right or do I need to get back to my dealer?

750 - 800 rpm here, 1000 sounds a bit high. Well a lot high really. Back to the dealer?

Question, how did a service (oil change) mess up the idle speed ?.

When it's cold it's normal that it revs higher. Does it stay at 1000 rpm all the time?

Oh and you do not need to apply gas to get the car moving on ANY diesel, they are just torquey b-astar-ds.

Could it be that it has had a software uodate, and the ECU is taking it's time to learn the new parameters, and before it has settled down the idle will be a bit high? Might be worth waiting a day or two.

Thank you for all the replies folks. I'm not happy with it so I've booked it back into the dealers for this Wednesday.

Driving round town its like having cruse control on and theres no slowing down until you brake.

Funnily enough I have had problems with this dealer before when I had my Type R and ended up ditching them. I thought I would give them another chance to see if they've improved seeing as they are just down the road. I think I've got my answer, looks like I'll have to go back to the less convienient but more thorough dealer I used for the Type R.

Misterpro

I thought it might be higer when cold but even after a 40 mile motorway journey the tick over is just as high during my 10 second shut down routine.

Cheers I guess it may have had a software update but its not learning. I'm 5 days and a couple of hundred miles after the service and its still the same.

Yep - the learning period should only take a 10 minute drive.

Havn't heard from my dealer yet, so think there's no car giftwrapped for me next week (as it should)

Gib me my locomotive!
