My average over the past 4k has only been 40MPG. I did reset the trip and drove economically to get it up in the 50s but then I got bored

yesterday driving from Reading to Leeds i managed 67 MPG!!!!

To be fair i was tired after a wedding at the weekend and it was relatively busy so no high speed.. generally 70-75mph indicated

212 miles.. it did go to 67.4 but I live at the top of a hill near Pudsey and this made it drop

Wierd... Last summer I only got 20mpg at French motorway speeds with my 'camping gear' on the back.

I can get similar figures (not over 200 miles though!), but not at an indicated 70 - 75. You must have a fine example of the already brilliant Civic engine

My 10 mile commute in the morning I usually get 58MPG urban and is always over 40-45MPG by changing each gear around 2-2.5k revs and using neutral the last 300 yards up to a junction and basically driving economically. If I don't the car barley gets 30MPG. Also reading up on hypermiling is an advantage i'm on par to get 450-475miles out of my 50litres of petrol.

thats good, but could be better if you didnt freewheel the last few yards as the engine has to use fuel to keep going. if it is in gear it doesnt use fuel as the inertia from the car through the g/box will keep it running.

anyone noticed if a particular brand of fuel is better then others? ive noticed just by using shell over tescos I can get another 5-10% range

Another good fuel stat:- got 472 miles from last fill, and still had one gallon left when I refilled. Computer on the car read 48.8mpg.

Range is out again, it reckoned I would only get 2 miles from my last gallon!!

I had a 1.8 sport demo car last night. I zero'd all of the counters and left for home, a 55km journey through town, busy stop/start highway, A-roads and a little B-road stuff. At the end of the journey the avg consumption figure was 5.8l/100km. This was quite a surprise to me since official combined figure is 6.6l/100km, and conditions were not perfect for an economy run.

How reliable is the computer? I always calculate the manual way (brim the tank and record mileage between fills) but that wasn't possible for a short 24 hour test drive.

I'm good (have had over 40mpg from the CTR when really trying) but I don't think I'm that good

The fuel economy of my 2.2 diesel is the aspect I most love about my Civic.
I am always how it manages to combine performance and economy though not necessarily at the same time.
Far, far better than my wife's old style Civic which had the 1.7l Isuz diesel engine.
