i'm not actually bothered by it to be honest, i was told the engine likes to be revved so i'm just trying to give the car what wants.........well that's my excuse anyway.

in my ctr my average is 28mpg, but i think the fact my work journey goes on 40mph, 30mph, 20 mpg and then 40mp roads dont help, its only 25 mins to work so maybe thats why
when i went to sheffield i was getting to 34 mpg sticking it on cruise control whenever i could at national speed limits

i fill up roughly everyweek, the higher octane fuel too

im not too bothered about it really, it lasts me more if i drive more sensibly but ive got a ctr and like to put my foot down sometimes

On my two most recent trips going to my uni (45 miles trip) doing about 15 miles city and 30 miles motorway, I get an average of 50mpg on my type R. I can get about 400 miles to the full tank. Every now and again I would have a blast but majority of the time I don't drive like I've stolen it.

it's all down to how you drive it on a daily basis. In my opinion, the vtec is like a turbo because the engine is not pushed until you pushed 6000rpm so you get good mpg. Also you need to find the right speed to sit at and I find the type R gets the best mpg doing 60 anywhere I go

My R has averaged 36mpg in the 2500 miles since i bought it. I never expected that kind of economy when I bought it so I'm well pleased. makes it an even better buy than some of the competition.

exactly how I feel about the type r, never thought it would be as good as it is with petrol when not in vtec all the time.

How do you calculate your fuel consumption to give an accurate figure as I log all my petrol and the mileage in a book so I get an accurate calculation of the true figures

I keep a note of how much petrol I fill up to get a full tank, reset my computer. I reset trip A everytime after a long journey to get my average mpg for that trip and I keep trip B to see how many miles I can do.

I used to do calculations via this website but I cannot find it but will next time. 360-400 miles in the type R from a full tank is amazing in my opinion and on the trip computer, it says I still have 20-odd miles left

You use roughly the same system as I do other than the fact I manually calculate the figures and as an average I have found that if I take 3mpg off the computer figure then I get a true figure
You are getting brilliant figures from your Type R so well done

So far my 2.2 has covered 8220 miles at a (calculated) average of 52.6 mpg.

That's achieved by mostly motorway trips, on the cruise at 70-ish.

Best tank full is 59.3 and worst is 46.7.

I'm well impressed, especially coming from a 2.0 petrol Accord that averaged 31.0 over 102,000 miles.

And yes I know it's boring to keep exact records - my excuse is that I need them for the taxman.
