I get around 36 mpg out of my 1.8 type s gt, thats doing 50 miles a day to and from work, 40 of which are motorway miles.
Wierdly I was getting 44 ish prior to having it serviced, Honda said beside the first service, all they did take some air out of my tires, as they were a little too inflated when I queried the mpg with them. I was tempted to re-inflate them a bit more!
I am currently thinking about swapping to 2.2 type s gt, but I have seen on what car website that some people only average about 40-50 mpg, so not sure if I would benifit much as diesel is more expensive to run, what do you guys think? I do about 15000 miles a year.

Christof,

I am currently averaging about 42-45mpg on the 2.2 diesel. Nothing amazing, but I think slightly better than the 1.8. I'm averaging 15-20k per year, mileage.

I'd be getting near 60mpg on the motorway!

I've currently got 61mpg showing on mine after over 200 miles since filling her up on Sunday. That's averaging about 80 miles per day, 40 miles to and from work with about 37 miles of that on the motorway.

I did fill her up with V-Power Diesel this week, last week I averaged 55mpg using Tesco Diesel.

At this rate I may get an extra day's travel from using V-Power

Previous fuel tank, only driven in city so lots of start stop, no more then 15 km/trip and with a mighty lead foot, my 1.8 returned 9.5 L/100 km or 29 mpg. Still ok considering the revs i let it do and the cold runnings.
its also its first fuel tank after the first service, dont really feel any difference in the cars performance, good i guess

Wheelie, what speed would you reckon you average on the motorway to get that? I drove a 1.4 this week and it struggled to get up to the mid 40's on motorway.

I would be doing around 60 to get that. The i-shift is very economical though, more so than the manual.

Even at 70mph I get around 54mpg!

When you say mid 40's, are you talking mpg or mph?

Does that mean you are getting 550 ish miles out of a full tank of Tesco Diesel? If that's the case then I would deffo save money by getting a diesel. If I was to be getting around 460 miles then it might not be viable what with losing the Honda Happiness on my Type S petrol. I have a great deal on the table (for a diesel) from Honda too.

Yup

I did drive for 9 miles whilst 0 miles to go before filling up

It's looking like I'll be getting over 600 miles from the V-Power diesel

My trip B is showing 53.4mpg for over 5800 miles - the FoS is brilliant

That sounds more like it. I don't get why some people are only getting 40ish mpg out of the diesel, how do you drive to achieve figures like that? I take it you don't thrash it around on the roads!

Mainly - no MOSTLY motorway driving keeping around 70

As Pottsy advised on another thread best not to use Cruise Control as the car will speed up naturally going down hills and I tend not to accelerate going up hills.

These figures do drop if I do a lot of town driving but the worst I've had is 48mpg. I just can't help it when that turbo kicks in

Thanks for the replies, I think you may have made my mind up. Only decision now is weather to stick with deep bronze or change to NHB!!

Deep bronze! Its more exclusive and classy than NHB.

And I'm a former NHB owner.

A lot of dealers say that the deep bronze does not sell so well and it affects resale value, thats the only reason I was going for NHB. Although that could be dealer speak for 'I want to give the least as possible for your part ex'

Forget it being worth a few pounds less in the future, buy the colour you like.

People worry too much about the future, you have to enjoy the present.

(I should know......)
