Anyone found 2nd gear a bit of a pain in the arse to select and move into sometimes?
I have made that horrible noise withteh gearbox a few times with selecting 2nd gear, and just a little worried about it. Anyone else with same problem? |

I dont think the gears are great to be honest, there are several compaints in bugs and faults about the gears being stiff, notchy and 2nd to 3rd being a problem.

The rest of the gear box is great, so to is 2nd gear when it works.
Maybe a note to any new drivers to be cautious around 2nd gear for a while when the car is new. Since the crunching sounds i have made, i have taken more care with 2nd gear and i do feel its starting to get better. (except for first thing when the car is cold). |

I've also noticed that the car is now a lot more "fluent". 9100 km's on the meter. The switching to second gear was a lot more difficult when the car was new..

The difficulty to engage second is probably due to the whole engine gearbox setup, especially in the petrol version. since the Honda engine and gearbox are made to be revved, stepping down a gear means a great difference in rotational speed of the cogs in the box, synchromesh sorts it out, but takes the good part of a second, it would really help if you blipped the throttle a bit just before the down change. Works wonders on mine.
