Cool Civic 2.2 CDT-I Trip Computer

Hello There.

I am very new to this forum (in fact any forum) but am seriously considering purchasing a new Civic. Currently I have a 10 year old BMW 328 SE which I have had much pleasure in over the years (all 10 of them in fact) However the time has come where I must part with it and move onto pastures new.

What I really want is something that can mimic the performance I am used to but with 50mpg+ A pipedream!! However, after reading your forum I realise that it is possible by altering the map of the ECU, such that the performance of the Diesel unit is much increased, but if I drive like my dad, then 50mpg+ is still possible. Can anyone confirm this?

Anyway my main point is this. I am a saddo gadget freak, and my BM has quite a good trip computer, where it can show instantaneous MPG and 2 lots of average MPG (One I reset before each journey, the other I reset after filling up). It also shows ave speed, time to dest, miles left in tank.

I read one forum where a member said that he reset his (A) trip and (B) trip, is this the same as what I have just mentioned? What other functions if any, does the trip comp do?

Lastly, what car settings can be changed? I have ascertained that you can turn on or off the rev lights, what other clever stuff can be done??

I don't suppose there is an online user manual in say PDF format anywhere is there?

Lastly (no I really mean it this time) which model is the one to go for, to get as near to the performance of my old car as poss? and why is the sport version 2mpg less than the others for the same engine.

Sorry to bore you all

Mav.

Hi, I'll give it a go!

Yes, I can confirm this.

You will not be disappointed with the number of gadgets in the EX model.

I read one forum where a member said that he reset his (A) trip and (B) trip, is this the same as what I have just mentioned? What other functions if any, does the trip comp do?

There are two trip computers, one of which you can optionally set to automatically reset every time you fill up. So you should be covered.

Lastly, what car settings can be changed? I have ascertained that you can turn on or off the rev lights, what other clever stuff can be done??

Symbols or words on the display, speed warnings, what language you talk to the car in.... The list goes on!

I don't suppose there is an online user manual in say PDF format anywhere is there?

Sadly not. But a trip to a dealer and a test drive in a diesel EX (I had to drive a diesel Sport and a petrol EX, but hey ho) will give you a good idea.

Looking at what you like, it has to be the diesel EX. Diesel for the performance, EX for the toys. The cars with the wider tyres have the slightly reduced mpg, due to increased rolling resistance and frontal area.

Sorry to bore you all

Not at all! Get test driving...
