Just brought Tuning Box

Hey guys,

Just brought this on ebay ....

Diesel Tuning Performance Chip / Honda Civic CTDI on eBay, also Engine Tuning Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 25-Apr-09 13:51:13 BST)

Been reading a few threads about these and general concencus seems to be that some work pretty well (digital ones) - I really like the fact I can remove it very easily.

Has anyone had any experiance with that specific one?

Chris

Im sorry, I wouldnt want to put a damper on the £95 you just spent but I wouldnt touch that thing with a barge pole!!! If your engine blows up you'll have no car as the dealer would just laugh you out the service dept if they found out an "ebay" tuning box was used... The ones that work well cost over £500 and you really do get what you pay for..

Never in a million years will that thing give as bigger gains as posted... although if it does, and your car doesnt blow up within the first 5 miles ill post a formal apology here along with a picture of me eating my own favourite shoe (and its an oliver sweeney shoe!!).

... rant over

If others have same oppinion as you (would be interested to hear from somone who has tried it) I wont be fitting it !

Just curious to find some people who have used one (or similar) - all the feedback on eay seem to be good. (although half of the people prob hadent tested it before they left feedback probably)

If its digital, and I'm sorry but it doesnt look like it will be at that price, then it will be OK.
If not, its analogue.
Whilst they are OK ang give a little bit of gain, they can be turned up too far and consequently, over fuel the engine, resulting in ECU light and then requiring a reset.

digital tuning unit

to be honest as someone with tuning unit knowledge and knowing how sensitive the civic is ,yes the unit will work but i would doubt very much if it is digital ,i had been selling diesel tuning units for 6 years and i have stopped selling on ebay at the moment due to 2 reasons, firstly due to the euro rate that makes it harder to make profit but mainly due to these type of `digital `units that have flooded the market ,i am not sure but most will be mass produced in china .as a previous posted said you get what you pay for but i used to sell at competitive prices which were lower than £500 ,you just really have to think how you value your car and all of these sellers mainly get feedback on how quick an item arrives not on quality or long term useage, however i am hoping to get back to selling in the near future as my supplier is trying to negotiate a better deal with me to compensate the poor £ to euro,i would also recommend you to fit a performance filter as this will improve the units performance

I had that exact one heres my thread
My tuning box problems

it didn't work at all well with my car. And it deffo isn't digital. Altough he did fully refund me. As for tuning boxes in general they do work you just get different results depending on the engine, my old vectra 1.9 was running 190bhp from a standard 150bhp, just with a tuning box and panel filter.

With this tuning box on and its turned to bellow half way it wasn't to bad a good bit of difference, just i think i had a faulty box or something. I have ordered this one now as someone on here has it and says it works quite well (check the thread above for there comments on it)http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-DIESEL-C...1%7C240%3A1318

I havent tried it yet as it will be waiting for me when i get back from China (hence 5am)

Ok guys, thanks for all the replies!

I have decided to go for a refund on this item after the advice I have been given on here.

I am still interested in the units as from the post above it does seem some of the units work ok. in perticular HONDA DIESEL CTDi PERFORMANCE TUNING CHIP ACCORD CIVIC on eBay, also Chips, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 21-May-09 15:45:10 BST) - EDIT: although this cant be digital either as you can adjust it - My mistake turns out you can adjust digital ones as per post below
