I have a 1.8 VTEC, first year I had it the dealer serviced it and put in 5W 40 oil, therefore I brought a 1L top up of 5W 40. Second year it goes in and the dealer changes the oil to 5W 30 oil. It could now do with a top up, should I go and buy another 5W 30 or are the two ok to mix?
you will be fine to do that, nothing bad will happen. Ive put in 0w40 Mobil before as a top up on my EP2 and on FN2, but only as a one off. Nothing happened to the engine still pulled strong and ran healthy..
the 5w30 if just a thinner oil at higher temperature compared to 5w40, these engines can take 0w40 / 5w30 / 5w40.
i dont see that being an issue. 0w/5w/10w should be fine..
