Clutch pulling/hitting/unevenly catching
Hello my English colleagues,
in advance sorry for my poor English. I have a problem with the clutch in my 2008 1.8 civic. In the Polish Civic Forum did not find answer to this problem. The problem is that after a long ride in the city, especially in traffic jam, the clutch starts to work differently. When starting in first gear and change gear at 2 distinct sense pulling / hitting, unevenly catching. The car mileage is 30.000 kilometers. While driving on the road, or in rare when I change gears, the problem does not occur. |

When driving, do you rest your foot on the clutch or do you put it on the footrest. 'Riding' the clutch could cause substantial wear on it.
Sounds to me that your clutch is pretty worn and when doing lots of city driving this put more stress on the clutch and it gets overheated. Reesulting in a change of biting point + slipping clutch. ALso when driving in traffic jams, try to maintain a steady speed so you dont have to clutch/declutch all the time. But just to be sure, go do some city driving which makes the problem occur and then go to your honda dealer and let them have a drive in the car. Good luck with it!! |

Couple of pointers, when changing gears (1st to 2nd in particular) make sure u fully release the clutch smoothly and rest your left foot on the rest. You can try 1-2, which means "1" clutch fully down, change gear and "2" is when you bring the clutch to biting point hold it a fraction of a second before resting your left feet, this helps the car change smoothly. If the car still pulls you after the above pointer take it to the dealers and dont let them fob you off by saying its your driving style!

I have the exact same problem as you, Sagi80. My 1.8 Civic har gone about 41.000km, I first noticed the problem after about 39-40.000km.
I only experience it in traffic jams too. In my opinion the clutch should be able to handle it.. My warranty is out in May, so I'm gonna have to take it in to the dealers pretty soon. |

Hi there,
Similar thread is also here: http://www.civinfo.com/forum/bugs-fa...-warranty.html And as I wrote there: They told me that this is probably because of a very cold weather here in Poland now - minus 22 degrees. But it sounds like a some kind of ******** for me However they probably did some regulations - my clutch is now softer, it bites earlier and the vibrations during moving from the first gear are only sometimes and much lower than before. They also told me to come back if there still will be issue during hotter weather. |

I have the same problem.
It occurs when I start from a stop in the first gear and when i change into second. I don't ride the clutch and don't keep it pressed at stop lights. I wonder if this can/should be covered by warranty as it's happening at 30.000 km and it is present to many owners. At least here in RO on a honda forum we have about 26 people with both 4d and 5d mentioning the same problem. Please let us know how Honda Poland handles this problem. We are thinking about writing a letter to Honda Trading Romania to inform them of this issue and see if we can get any kind of response from them. Have a nice day, Sergiu. |

Same problem here and it's definitely not because of my driving stile, it's not the first car I'm driving and I've never had similar problems before.

So we form Romania on the Hondafan forum reached a number of 30 Civics and have roughly the same issue.
When coupling in 1st/2nd or 3rd there is a significant "judder" in the whole body of the car and it fells clearly that it's from the clutch mechanism. The "explanation" is that the springs on the clutch disk have been "overheated" and are blue-ish in clolour. This, however is likely not covered by the warranty as they (i.e. the dealerships/importer) will blame it on us. So we're wondering why no one from the UK (a very large market for the 8th gen Civic) has not yet reported the same problem? |
