1.8 ES i-shift Regd September 07 - Band D - £140 - 158g/km. There was a discussion a few months ago as to how DVLA will get to know of the upgrade of those cars affected.

Well I haven't heard anything so I decided to call in the garage today and ask about it. Being done this Thursday (10th).

Not really had any problems apart from my wife noticing it 'surge' a bit when changing. I do tend to 'feel' the gears in with my right foot, whereas she just drives it like her own 'normal' type of auto. Hopefully it will benefit her style of driving and not spoil mine.

Allan40alt,Thats exactly what it will do, I like you, prefer the paddles shifts but the wife prefers the auto and the upgrade is more noticeable in the auto mode – good luck.

Had first service today, as well as correcting various small niggles they installed the new software, Christ, what an improvement. It now drives like the car I wanted when I bought it. I'd recommend getting it done immediately, you'll be really pleased.

It's starting to sound like the upgraded 2006 models now have a better i-shift system than the 2007 models

I don't suppose there's any upgrade for us come March this year

I've just got back from Honda Coventry after having the modification done and I am just so pleased.

I drove deliberately like my wife does in her 'standard' automatic and I was very impressed. There was none of the 'surging' or 'delay' at roundabouts. Response was immediate. Gear changes smooth.

I was always pleased with the i-Shift but that was because I had 'adapted' my driving to suit the car. I can easily live with this.

Well done Honda.

Pleased for you. I have experienced my '57 i-shift stalling once and nearly on a second occasion. Should an i-shift stall? I asked my local, very helpful dealer the other week. No, was the definitive answer. They took it in and re-set, I think, the idle speed. I was told this should have been done at the PDI stage after warming the engine up to normal temperature. I have not experienced the problem since. Yes, on the whole, I am very pleased with the i-shift and like most couples, my wife tends to drive in 'auto', whilst I tend to drive in manual, using the paddles. Is this a "man" thing?
PS: I did not purchase the car from my local dealer, although I would have liked to have done.

They didn't say anything about it. Guess I'll wait and see at renewal time (I shan't broach the subject!).

Yes, interesting. I can't see HMG missing out on some extra tax, can you? I would have thought there will be some mechanism to alert DVLA of the change of emissions, but if there ain't good luck to you!

Yesterday I rang my stealer about i-SHIFT upgrade (keep in mind I live in Croatia) - and they acted very dumb. They had no knowledge at all about i-SHIFT upgrade, and overall conversation seemed like I'm the on crazy here.

Anyone else had their software upgraded who is not from UK, or has anyone actually received notice of any sort for possible upgrade (meaning did they offer upgrade, or did you need specifically to ask for it)?

I went to my service and asked if any news about the upgrade were heard of. They had no idea..
Then I filled an inquiry form on the web page of Honda Turkey and wrote that I knew about this topic (mentioned Civinfo..) and asked if they had a schedule for upgrading.
They called me the next day, said that they were aware of the subject, and their engineers were working on it (working??? maybe being trained..) but they could not tell about a certain time that the upgrading will commence. And that, the concerned ones would receive a recall.
At least, they are aware and there is a light ahead!

I-Shift Upgrade

Had mine and my fellow directors software upgraded on Thursday. WOW !!! what a difference. Smooth changes, now 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd are silky smooth.

The kickdown for overtaking now actually works and roundabouts are a pleasure to drive round. Paddle mode is still as much fun with even smoother changes.

Honda have got it right at last .

Many thanks to Francis Honda Narborough Leicester for keeping on top of the problem and getting our cars updated as soon as the upgrade was available.

These i-shifts sound interesting.Great for instant access into the petrol's power band with the paddle shift?

If Honda ever bring out a diesel 3 door I-shift with uprated engine,I'm afraid I can see another visit to the dealer inevitable,in spite of the fact the Type S so far is a joy to own and drive.

Glad to hear that owners who are now getting the upgrade are now realising how good the i-shift is in both auto and manual form

Not mine, and that's a 2007 version - downshift hesitation still evident and slow up changes in the lower gears.

I won't go on again though.

I'm hoping that the latest software upgrade which sounds promising is being issued to 2007 versions eventually.

If the new software is a further improvement on the 07 Reg version and the mechanism is now in place for dealers to update it, I see no reason why they cannot apply the upgrade to 07 cars as well.

It would be interesting to hear fom any 07 i-shift owners who ask for the upgrade when their spaceship is serviced!

Kremmen and eyemdee Are we talking about 2007 models or '07 registrations? I have a '57 (2007 model) ES i-shift. I was under the impression that the upgrade in i-shift software brought the upgraded cars to the same level, for want of a better word, to my car.
