Hi gb110430

I use Texaco diesel fuel. I have been told by diesel experts that you should only use good fuel. So I would stay away from supermarket fuel and use the good stuff which has good additives like shell, Texaco, and BP.

I use Esso diesel and find I get excellent fuel economy. There's been times when I require fuel and no Esso garage is available and found I got less mpg from filling up with BP diesel. (again, my opinion)

Use BP Ultimate Diesel. Civic runs great on it.

Used Shell to drive to cornwall, and Asda to come back, the Shell gave me extra 6-7 mpg. (roughly same weather, same traffic etc..)

have been using Tesco for the last several tankfuls, and getting between 410 and 430 miles before the 'low fuel' warning came on

filled up with BP ultimate last week, have done 360 miles, and showing 110 left...

hardly scientific, or conclusive, but there you go

Miles to go...

Surely the miles to go 'meter' anticipates how far you will travel using 'historical data' from your previous trip? and how heavy or light your foot was during that trip.

Best solution is to set your trip meter between 'fill ups' and work it out..

yes, that's exactly what it does - and mine seems to be rather unsure of itself at times

however, when the low fuel light comes on, it's generally when it's saying 35 miles to go, and it generally takes about 46ltrs to fill.

and I've got my A trip set to auto reset at each fill

Usually by my diesel at tescos to get the points, but I think they are a waste of money , I have found that i normally get better m.p.g. useing normal shell diesel , i made the mistake last week of topping up with Shell V Power and my fuel consumption dropped to about 32 m.p.g around town , maybe it had gone off and the cetane value had dropped as no-one usually buys it ?

My Tesco points are paying for me & my wife to go on holiday this year. Got about £800 in Clubcard Deals saved up (4 x face value of vouchers) so for me they are definitely not a waste of money!

Not used anything other than Tesco fuel so far & after 1000 miles getting about 350 miles per tank - not good but think it may be ok for mileage.

350 miles is poor mileage from the diesel. I have been using shell fuel and getting around 450 to a tank.

But are you very heavy with the right foot?

Just got back from a 300 mile round trip, half motorway driving at 85mph on cruise, the rest of it A road driving at around 60mph. The average mpg on the trip computer reset at the start of the trip reckons on 43.5mpg. On track for around 450 miles on the tank, total mileage 1300-ish, all on Tesco diesel.

My normal week to week driving has taken a dive from 850 miles a week to around 130 miles a week.

I currently run mine on shell diesel extra and consistently get 54 miles per gallon. Tried one tank of BP ultimate for comparison and it returned 48 miles per gallon. V Power Shell Diesel is soon to be rolled out across the country, only available at ~30 stations currently, which should provide even more gains in performance and economy?
