"Check Engine" message on my dash with flashing glow plug
I've got a 2.2 cdti, 2007, with about 65k on the clock. In the last year or so i've had the above warning light come on, yet with a short journey and then a restart it goes away for a few months. The car operates fine in the meantime. Anyway, the same light popped up 2 days ago and won't go off. This time when i turn the engine off, the fan continues for around 2-3 minutes, and then when i come to drive it the next day it comes on again. I'm going to get it checked out this time round, but would like to know what the probable cause is. As far as i can see the engine performs the same, the mpg is just as good, but i do seem to get more noise from the fan when i'm driving. Any ideas anyone? I drive a bit for work so need to know whether i'll need to take a day off o get it to the garage sooner rather than later.

Could be a whole host of things, but could be a sensor playing up or just a previous error that needs clearing. Best to het it checked out because guessing games don't get much done. Hope it isn't serious as a year is a pretty long time to ignore a fault....

I had an Alfa Romeo 147 and the car cut out and displayed an error message. Called the AA and they plugged a laptop in, they told me the fault code number and even showed me on the laptop where the fault was coming from. I needed a new crankshaft position sensor.
Did the recovery guys not even do the check? IIRC it costs about £35 to plug in the diagnostics at a garage. Good luck anyway. |

I would go with rey1234 as this happened to my civic. honda eventually put the software upgrade on it and all is well now. |

could well be the ect 2 sensor if your rad fans are running constantly. the pins of the sensor corrode and snap off inside the connector. the official fix is to replace the sensor and the engine harness, honda do not supply the connector separately. good luck!

what beefy said too lol. its true, most likely to be corrision as the sensor is located that the bottom of the radiotor. Car is safe to drive though just the fan continues to run even when the car is off, i found this odd when it happend to me as it was -12 and 2ft of snow and coulndt understand why the car would show an overheating fault lol,
