Supermarket diesel? Seen a few posts complaining how bad the engine runs on cheap supermarket diesel.

I think some on here recommended BP so I've used it the last twice, can't notice any difference from the Esso I ALWAYS use.
I won't use supermarket fuel anyway.

Going back to my trusty Esso as at least they keep their prices the same as supermarket prices, I'm paying more per litre at BP, rip off.

BP is 97.9
Esso is 94.9 same price as petrol now

Mine is a bit rough during warm up, I notice it at the same place going to work every day at about 30mph.
So far I've tied it down to engine temp as it doesn't do it cold or hot, but having always used supermarket fuel that could be a cause too!
It's now got a full tank of Shell opti so I'll check this week and let ya know.

Well I have to say it's running fine now (and still on the same tank!) quite smooth and extra MPG to boot.
OK you'd need to do the sums to see if it was worth it for high milers, but for general smoothness (and I expect engine life) mainline fuel does it

Just to pick up on the engine life thing: diesel engines typically last much longer than petrol ones.

The other benefit the diesel has is for company car users re CO2 emissions.

And presumably the CDTi accelerates a fair bit quicker in most day-to-day circumstances than the VTEC due to the extra big helping of torque.

Quicker at lower revs, but broadly similar over a longer realistic run.
