depends what youve got darren, if you have the 2.2 diesel then yea you can acheive a BHP close to the type r with just a remap. some people on here have got there 2.2's to 190+ BHP
but im affraid if youve got the 1.8 then you might be able to get k&N, exhaust and a remap and you may only gain as much as 20bhp or less over the standard 138bhp and it doesn't come cheap! |

i got a pretty close to the bhp of a type-r and it cost £314 for a remap. I dont think it would stand up to one on a track tho.
if you fit a bigger intercooler you can get 220bhp but you will need a better clutch and probably worth upgrading brakes and suspension. |

if you can afford to buy and run the type r after selling yours then go for it mate otherwise if you love the civic then get rid of the 1.8 and get the 2.2

You could change the cams and shaft for a race one.... then change the uptake and exhaust/manifold, this should give you a decent gain. Remove the cat, and lighten the car, then add some forced induction... Oh and a remap that'll give you good power.

RX8 is thirsty on oil, not much torque and personally I don't like its 'whine'. The engine design results in regular and expensive servicing, so i'm led to believe, plus a hefty tax disc each year. More expensive than the CTR in almost every way and for a similar amount of power.
Mind you its a completely different look... |

Plus the RX8 shreds tires apparently, so huge rubber and oil bills. Although i do like the 350z, id go with that if its a choice out of the two!!

Well , after a closer look to my finances, i decided to do absolutly nothing on motor perfomance and save money on something else, because it is more logic, and makes me more sense to trade my 1.8 EX for CTR FN2 with superb K20 engine. 4800 pounds will be aprox the difference to pay.
But if you aren"t happy about it let say that with : CAI Injen, Fujita or K&N De-cat exhaust system Racing catalyst Re-map gain aprox 20 bhp. You can put supercharger or turbo on it . But that"s clever solution, because it pulls others things, which makes your investement a little bigger ( much ). |

If u want more power but still like the civic, Sell the 1.8 and get the Type R
If u want something different Golf GTI/Focus ST/Megane 225/Astra VXR? Personally i think the CTR is the one to go for but its your choice. And i wouldn't get the 350 because of the new 370Z, And dont bother with the RX8 although its a nice car they lose a huge amount of money coming to selling it. |
