Done app. 1700 miles since taking ownership of the civic, andaveraging 48.5 mpg. never got anything like that out of the 1.4 zetec Fiesta we got rid of, so I'm not complaining.

After 1000 miles my 2.2 diesel has shown nothing but 38-42 mpg.
However today after a fill up of bog standard Tesco, it suddenly started showing 49-52 Mpg.

Still driving the same.
Co-incidence?
Tesco fuel?

After 2888 miles in my 1.8 I'm getting 37.8 or 37.9 miles to the gallon according to the on-board computer. A lot better than my old 2.0 litre VTEC Accord, mostly stop-start 11 mile commute. I'm sure I'll get better than that once it loosens up, or if I go for a loooooong drive, which I haven't managed to do yet.

I'm now with 13.500 Kms on the tyres

The B Trip that was never reset since day one marks:
6.2 l / 100 Km
or in mpg: 45.56 mpg

On my weekly day trips to work I drive 98% highway, the rest inside city traffic, a total per day of 180 kms, doing in the highway an average between 120-140 kmh (74 - 87 mph), and the A trip between fill ups gives me 6.1 l / 6,2 l.

90 % of the times I fill up with Galp G-Force Diesel ( premium diesel equivalent to BP ultimate ) that is from a local (Portuguese) company.

Last fill up, yesterday, was with BP ultimate. I will compare it with the other brand to see if it's better.

Will post the results next week...

For the last tank of mixed driving, mostly outside town, the computer read 6,9 l/100km (41 MPG), while a calulation from actual mileage (586 km) and petrol needed to fill the tank gave 7,6 l/100km (37 MPG).

My i-VTEC has now a mileage of 4200 km.

I went from Sheffield to St.Neots at the weekend, and averaged 50mpg on the way down, and 48mpg on the way back (in the rain :-/ ). This was on an engine that had only done 300 miles when I set off.
Between the M1 and A1 (Mansfield to Newark) I actually managed to average 62mpg.

This is all pretty good to me, having come from a TVR that was doing 16mpg lol!

cdti economy

Had cindy for a year now

21500 miles
2255 litres in total
£2134.89 total cost

43.33 mpg average

Matches, on average, what i see on the 'puter. Some days i try and see what max trip average i can get and never see more than 53mpg. This is without cheating though and resetting it once im on the dcw at 55!!

I have had my 2.2CDti EX for 4 weeks now and done 1400 miles. It is averaging 49 MPH but it should improve after 5000 miles or so once the engine loosens up. That said it depends how you drive the what type of driving you do. In truth if you are getting better than 45 MPG you are doing pretty good. The 1.4 Petrol report is very impressive though.

My 2.2 ES is showing around 43-45 av. mostly urban driving. My Alfa 159 jtdm 2.4 returned 29-33 on the same routes. The Honda feels much much more nimble and I reckon there would be little in it on the open road.Seems a great result to me Steve

I asked my Honda dealer about this and he said (and its not the first time I've heard it) that the car needs anything up to 10,000 miles before being fully loosened up and able to see the true fuel economy. How quick that happens, he said, depends on the type of driving done in the early days.

He explained that the best way of driving was to drive conservatively until the engine has warmed up, but once warmed up 'stretching the legs of the car' is the best policy. Driving cautiously with the accellerator would mean the engine doesn't loosen up as quickly and therefore will take longer to realise the best economy.

As I say, not the first time I've been told that although doesn't really tally with the old 'running in' approach.

But perhaps not worth slating the manufacters figures until the car is well over 10k?
