mine is pretty much purely in town (mostly v.short journeys). the numbers stated by Honda say in town a type S 1.8 gives 33.6 so i thought I was doing OK, but everyone seems to be close to 40....any tips??? |

My normal journey combines A roads with town driving. I re-fill every weekend after typically 250 miles. This produced low 40's mpg in my 1.8 and now low 30's in my CTR. Certainly, the type of driving can dramatically effect your mpg - but, as for tips, I'm not sure - are you heavy footed ??

My M.P.G. ranges from 26mpg to 43mpg depending on driving conditions. The lower mpg is when I am driving purely in stop/start town traffic and the 43mpg is motorway driving. Car is coming upto 6000 miles. My mpg is calculated i.e. gallons put in against milage done because I found that the mpg displayed on the car computer is about 10% over reading. The car is a 1.8 ES.

I'm currently getting 43.5mpg around town and country lane driving.
Think that's the best average i have had for a while. That average is currently over 3/4 tank, so roughly 140 miles. |

Well Behaved Millie!
On the return trip from Southampton!
Not bad for the 1.8! I did try a bit though! "I'm as pure as the driven slush!" Charles H. Last edited by Charles_Harding : 8th January 2008 at 11:12. |

Last week, I've made a trip from approx. 5.000 kms. (Germany, Austria, Hungary).
Fully loaded with luggage and 4 passengers, at a speed within the range of 130 km/h to 200 km/h, I noticed an average diesel consumption (Shell V-power, Total Excellium, BP Ultimate) of 6,1 l/100 kms. I have now 20.000 kms done in half a year and I'm becoming every day happier with this excellent car. |

51 is not bad for the 1.8 Charles, but look at what my Doozly Diesel did yesterday on a trip to Runcorn.
First picture taken at Norton Canes services... 1.JPG Which I thought was good, then I got to Runcorn, average speed also shown to prove I wasn't driving too slowly, not bad for a mixture of roads and rush hour M6. 2.JPG 3.JPG Last edited by richierich : 20th July 2007 at 06:51. |

No pictures to back this up, but I've seen the extremes of 15MPG and 63MPG in the diesel.
The 15 was about 800 metres after filling up, and resetting the meter, at a station right beside the road, and accelerating straight onto a 110Kph main road in the rush hour outside Caen in Normandy. The high figure was after a day of pootling around the quiet Norman back roads at sight-seeing speeds. Ah, if only I had that sort of patience all the time..... PS it breaks my heart to report that you can have Esso diesel in Belgium for 1 Euro a litre. I bought some at 1.002 Euros and the next day it had gone DOWN to 99.9 cents. |
