I'll give it another couple of hundred miles and then get it checked out because the cars I test drove had a bit more guts and this just seems so weak. |

Mine is yet 10 000 Km "old" and become more and more fun to drive.
We went in Germany Monday to test our civic on "free speed" motorways. We went above 200 Km/h and the engine was still pushing... My dealer (specialized in sport car) tell me that the engine will be "free" and pus hing like a beast after 15000 km... Wait and see |

Re Engine Loosening
Sorry for new thread, couldnt find the old one!
Done about 700miles from new in my Type S diesel and took it on 180mile round trip to Hampshire this morning. Now I dont know if its because... A) I've learnt how to drive a diesel finally in terms of gearchanges etc. B) It got a tank of BP Ultimate this morning C) The engine has loosened dramatically D) All of the above but anyway...my GOD!! The car is absolutely flying!!! Is this normal or have I just got a blinder of an engine (lol)?! |

My dealer reckons they get better at around 6000 miles. After one of my colleagues said the 2.2 felt a bit slow he bought a 56 plate round with 6000+ miles on it and it did go rather well. On two favourite stretches of road the speedo was registering 6 mph more than I can get in my x-type 2.0d sport premium!

Thats really good. Think I wrote this on the other thread so bear with me if Im repeating myself but I dunno where Im going wrong then. Still only averaging about 39-40 mpg, done 1500 or so miles and only get about 370 miles from a tank... Doesn't sound good.

Yeah thats a bit weird Lexie...I'm up to 41.3 overall since new now. Where does Cherry spend most of her time, Mways or A roads? I think the type of fuel you use has a bit to do with it too (or so I'm led to believe). I've started using BP Ultimate which isnt the most frugal at 1.03/ltr but seems to do the job....

Normal BP diesel is about 94p/ltr but the good stuff is more expensive...not sure I'll be able to keep it up but the car seems to love it!

Just like using super unleaded v. regular unleaded....same benefits. And its still cheaper mpg-wise than my previous car. Anyone else use BP Ultimate or is it just me??!!

Nearly done 12000 miles now just coming up to 1 year old. Iv'e logged all fuel used from new so will calculate the average fuel use after this tank full / 12000 milestone.

Hi Lexie
Did you follow the mototune method during the initial run in. I thrashed he pants off it for the first 600 miles. I regulary hit 4000 rpm and stuck to A roads. I'm now getting 44 mpg and haven,t burn't any oil in 1,800 miles of driving. |

I must admit I did drive her quite hard when I got her.
Anyway update is that I tried BP Ultimate and m mpg increased from about 39.4 to 45.2 in the first 50 miles since filling which is a good sign. She is also going into Honda on Weds for some tests as they agreed that the figs I was quoting were v low. Also the eco lights tell me that something is amiss. So we shall have to wait and see.... |
