Oil types

Guys, I apologise, and I know this has been done to death, but I have to be sure....

After 4 months of ownership from new, my 1.8 I shift Civic piped up this morning and asked for more Oil... What kind should I give her? I can't make any sense of the Manual, and seeing as I will asking for the stuff in a foreign language, I want to be 100% that I am getting the right stuff!

In my defence, I know where the Oil goes...........

I also hate football, does that make me any less of a man?

Answers on a postcard......

I was told by my dealer Shell Helix Plus 10W 40. I was also told to check the oil level at every fuel fill up! Wouldn't want to wait till the Civ tells me to be honest
