OIL continued? Have I broken it?!

Funny Story,

Further to my last post, regarding the type of Oil I should use to top up...

After advice given, and a quick ring to the Honda dealer in my home town, I settled on Mobil 10W 40 oil.... I pcked up said container, bought it, and filled up my engine, to discover that although I had picked up the bottle in the right section at the garage, it was indeed the wrong oil....

Long story short, instead of an engine full of 10W 40, I have an engine full of 5W 30....

Should I be worried?

Not really, This oil you have put in is a bit more runnier than 10w40, But if I recall correctly, this type of oil is allso OK for the civic.

Might even save you (a very very small amount of) fuel!

this is what you can use:

(left is for EU models)

You can use 10w-40 also but the best is to choose 0w-30 or 0w-40 full synthetic (was already discussed in other threads )

0w, 5w... means how the oil works in cold conditions
(how fast the pump can pick it up and deliver it to the important places.. 0w oils are the best)

the other number describes the warm conditions.. 30 or 40 is fine in EU

this was just a quick summary... check out in wikipedia or sg like that if you are more intrested.. and next time be careful what you buy!

ps.: I think 5w-30 was a better choice than the 10w-40 that oil is too thick for a new, hi-tech Honda engine!
