Dunno, but the before/after figures they report are wrong for torque - unless they mean lb/ft rather than NM?

Standard torque on 2.2 is 340nm, not 240nm.

Hmmm... I wouldn't touch them with yours.

Personally I would only go for a company with a rock solid reputation and long, proven track record. Ideally you don't want anything to go wrong in the first place, but if it does, you want to chose a company that you guess will give you the most support in that event.

Superchips are the only people I would let near my ECU, they did my FOcus and my GOlf, and they will get to play with whatever I get next

Indeed. I would certainly have trouble trusting a company that won't even list an address on its website.

Quick question for those of you with the remaps.

What minimum mileage would you think would be best to put on the car before getting this work done? I'm already a bit unimpressed with the power of mine and I think it needs a hike.

Did about 80 miles in the Golf before I did it (ie I drove from the dealer to Revo), but in the Civ I had to wait for Superchips to come up with the goods. I'd not bother waiting for a minimum mileage, you can control the amount of power/boost with your right foot...

The remap only adjusts fuel and turbo boost settings and you could drive a remapped car identically to a non-remapped one. So in my opinion there wouldn't have to be a minimum mileage. You could 'run-in' a remapped car perfectly well - indeed some might argue it may assist bedding-in of the piston rings due to the potential for increased use of throttle variation.

I waited 1000 miles for my remap but only because I wanted to truly appreciate the difference in performance. And of course theres the small issue of forking out £500 soon after the expense of the car itself!

Hi everyone

After having finally got project one finished on my Civic - Double Din facia with aftermarket head unit and navi - fitted with pictures - the next job for me is a remap. How is everyone getting on with theirs, and which companies would you recommend? I'd prefer them to come to me to do it, as I'm Brighton based.

Had mine 'Superchipped' at 1200 miles (4000 ago!) by a local agent and I can honestly say it's the best thing that I can imagine to enhance the car - overtaking is a lot quicker/safer, and it has that magic ability to produce even more of a grin.

Fuel consumption if anything marginally improved (as long as I behave myself...) and the Superchip has really brought out the best in the 2.2 engine.

If you visit Superchips website it will give you the details of approved dealers in your area Rizlam!

P.S. Don't roll your own by any chance?

I'm extremely interested going down the remap route.
I've always liked the Bluefin device that Superchips do, as I can install and remove the remap to my heart's content - but this is not available for the Civic.

So a couple of questions:

What happens when I take my Civic to the Honda dealer for a service? If there are any ECU upgrades from Honda this will overwrite the remap? I don't fancy spending another £500 at Superchips!!!

Are there any companies out there that over a similar device to Bluefin that matches or exceeds Superchips performance improvements?

Hi Rizlam,

I've done about 10k+ miles since my remap by Celtic Tuning. Everything is fine with no problems whatsoever. Celtic operate a mobile tuning service nationwide so they will come to you. Group deal is £375. You can contact them at Celtic Tuning - Performance Remap Specialists
I also recommend Superchips who remapped my previous car.

Just to follow on from my last post.

I called CT earlier in the week to ask if they could do my friends A4 130 TDI at the same, they said not only was this possible but they would reduce the cost of my upgrade from £375 to £325!!

Their representative turned up bang on time and after taking a test drive in both cars to see if their were any problems with the cars before starting work on them.

The Audi needed to have the ECU removed and split open. My Civic was done via the ODBC port located in the drivers side footwell.

Both cars were completed in around one and a half hours and we set off for our test drives. Beforehand I was told that it would be around 2 weeks for my new map to show full potential, i thought 'oh no, this sounds like a cop out'. Boy was I wrong, straight from the off the car was transformed. It pulls a lot harder from lower revs and doesn't stop till all the red lights are lit and I have scrabbled around trying to get the next gear in time. Roll on acceleration in high gears is very impressive and overtaking the ever increasing quarry wagons on my daily High Peak commute is now a breeze.

Celtic Tuning are quoting 192 BHP and 320 ft lb of torque and I certainly wouldn't argue with that.

P.S. My friend is also pleased with his 185 BHP A4.

I got 64 bhp more. I just can say it's too much.

Around 140 mp/h the car shows an error. "boost pressure to high"

I will get a new map next week.

Like + 30 bhp

64BHP more - Jeepers!!

....just a little too much for the car I feel - the standard Superchips re-map gives an extra 30-ish, and that's about right IMO

The Celtic re-map has no detriment that I have noticed, it creates a smooth wave of extra power all the way up the range.

IMO the extra power isn't the issue. It's all down to how you use it

Not had time to check it properly yet, but I did manage to refrain from playing for one day and on my 40 mile round trip commute, which is mainly made up of long climbs and descents the computer showed 3 MPG more, that is 48 against the normal 45.
