Hi Craig, I'm getting my car remapped this weekend with Celtic.

As I'm getting my car done at the same time as a friend, I'm getting a 10% discount. It's going to cost £337.50 (would have been £375).

Hi Dave,

Surely you'd agree that a turbo could fail mechanically even under normal circumstances? So the remap isn't necessarily to blame.

For info,

I've just had my car (2.2 diesel Type S) remapped by Celtic, and it's been fantastic. Celtic we're an absolute pleasure to deal with.

People have given detailed reviews elsewhere on the site, and I'm not much of a car techie, so I'll stray away from that.

It's changed the dynamics of the car for the better, and I've had nothing but fun so far.

If, like me, you're not sure if a remap is for you, all I would say is; I'm so glad I did it.

I feel that it gives the Type S the improved performance to go with the sporty styling.

Happy days!

Hi Fb77

I'm glad your pleased with your re-map. My tuning box just gets better and better. I've now tried it with shell V power. What a difference. You really do feel the extra power.

Glad to hear it Charley, I'm a user of V-Power Diesel too. Not sure if it makes a difference or not, but I don't mind taking the financial hit to know I'm putting the best fuel I can afford in the tank.

Hi defrece,

Remap was £337.50 (inc 10% group buy discount - normal price £375). As for the insurance, I had to switch to Adrian Flux, as my previous insurer, Hastings Direct, wouldn't touch me with the proverbial barge pole. Insurance increased by nearly £200...

I think it's right to tell the insurance company though, I'd feel too guilty if I was overpowered and under insured.

It's made a fantastic car even more fun to drive. Ultimately, everybody's different, but I'm so glad I had it done, and I wouldn't hesitate to get the same done if I get a new car.

Hey guys,

For those of you who have had your cars mapped, have you run into any problems when taking them in for servicing or MOT?

I have mine booked in for this thursday (after a spat with a taxi driver - another story!) and am tempted to canx as I have just hit 22k miles and have a a service due shortly also.

Any feedback would be appreciated

Hi people, I was just wondering, on the chiped cards (2.2)

how much difference you get with in gear acceleration

30-70 for example
or useful overtaking type speeds.

Also, what other more "well known" cars would this be comparable to?

I have just ordered a new civic 2.2 cdti and any info is very welcome.

Cheers.

Sorry, I did intend to reply sooner...

Diesels are all about mid-range torque, so, as the torque of the car is increased, it is in fact in gear acceleration where you'll see the most obvious difference.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a remap as the whole driving experience is improved, in my opinion.

As to what this compares to; I honestly couldn't say, but I've yet to find a 'normal' car that I couldn't keep up with...most vehicles end up as a speck in my rearview mirror.

Anyone else got owt to add?

Also, cityhunter, I recently had my car serviced (following a remap a few months ago) with no problems at all.

Who did you have your remap done by if you don't mind me asking as I've seen a few people offering the conversion but I am planning on using Celtic unless persuaded otherwise or hear of any horror stories of Celtic.

Celtic did mine. Based on my experience, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

The whole process, from email enquiry to the actual work was an absolute pleasure, and both professional and courteous.

Plus, I was told that if I have any problems, just give them a call...and I do believe the excellent service will continue if I need to take up that offer.

Only £40 callout in the event of a demap (i.e taking the new map off), or a remap (if it gets overwritten, for whatever reason) also gives me confidence.

Obviously, your experience may vary, etc.
