Hows Everyones Remapped Cars Going ?
Anyone had any problems after remap? Any tips on were to go ?
(Celtic's or super-chips?) How far has your mpg changed on normal and hard runs? I see all these 190s on here now and was wondering thats alt to go up from high 140s, has anyone noticed any drive train trouble etc. And if possible can our remapped boys post there comments and mileage since remap. I cant wait to join you all, but as a family of motor engineers there worried about wrecking the car, its a too dear car to blow up or have lots of problems with, like some other tdi cars that have had problems after remap, I'm quite happy to pay £500 to super-chips to get it done safely and covered so Honda cant leave me with a big problem if something goes wrong. or is super-chips over priced with a useless warranty? you thought's please Anyone got dnyo results to prove the 190 ? people like pottsy used to have 185 in there Sig just wondering if they changed it to 190 after dyno run? I had the superchips re-map done 4000 miles ago and its the best thing I've done to the car to be honest!
Power delivery is superb, MPG is unchanged and there has been no problems associated with it whatsoever. Run it on BP or Shell fuel and a recent dyno run made 185bhp and 321 lb/ft torque. Yes £500 is pricey but the warranty is very good and I don't expect to be making use of it! You have relative piece of mind if anything does go wrong. If you're after that 'little bit more' from your engine without any drawbacks (apart from an emptier wallet!) then it comes recommended - and you won't be disappointed! |

Thanks for your post cid , I just looked on superchips site and there still got there accourd map on show 166 bhp simes not worth the hassle but 40-50 extra bhp simes alot better.
I think pottsy bid a chart of chiped non chiped engines that showed the 0-62 time of a chip civic |

You can't really get an accurate enough 0-60 time on a dyno due to wind resistance and other factors and they couldn't provide me with one. But I would estimate that its at least a second quicker than standard. Pottsy's graphs on the other thread give a good indication of timings. IWANTACIVIC Yes, its seems strange that Superchips still show the accord i-ctdi graph on their website even nearly a year after they started doing the Civic. Their conservative claim of an increase to 165-170bhp is certainly no where near the 180-190bhp that we've actually been getting from them - but I'm certainly not complaining!! |

The turbo must come on with an almighty whoosh!, has the remap made the turbo spin up any quicker?. My experience with my own standard diesel would give me the impression that 3rd,4th, etc must be fantastic gears now, but that flooring it in second would give massive thrust and require 3rd almost immediately due to the engine reving out so quickly, with much lighting of the traction light!. I have a remapped gttdi 130 golf at home and that is the case with it. |

Yer do it change the noise of the turbo/ exhaust ? might have to get aftermarket exhaust because noise is poor for such a powerful dti, mates 307 sounded so much better the civic nice induction and turbo noise then nice bassy noise thought exhaust , The civic just whines and then a half good noise on let off its a bit of a disappointment. mates 307 sounded super in multi storey car park pop it in low gear then power up ramps lets off at the top and the closed in area made it sound super. pitty when we got the nice tips but no good sound as standard.

It's just the same as the normal car, except there more go when the pedal gets close to the floor. Other than that, you'd never know.
Well worth doing, but while there is not much more chance of something going wrong than on a standard car, there is a risk of Honda washing their hands with you if that something going wrong happened. If you are that concerned about the warranty, then I wouldn't bother. |

How long did you guys wait before you got yours chipped...i.e how long had you had the car! Had mine 1 day and considering it already, not that I think mine is too slow or anything!

This is maybe asking the same question as earlier, in a different way, is the turbo lag as noticable in the remapped car as the standard, or as I would expect, it would just 'appear' more noticable given the difference between off and on boost. |

I don't notice any more lag, the engine is just as smooth and progressive as when it was standard, and much less peaky than the Golf TDI is as standard. You really notice the extra go from 2500 - 4000 rpm, where the standard map fades away, the remap just keeps pulling, meaning you have a much wider and more usable power band than standard. All with no loss of refinement or economy when you drive sensibly.

Did you manage to get a better plot of your dyno run? To all those who have chipped their motors or are thinking of it we need some good quality back-to-back (before and after) plots. Please also identify conditions (the 'weather' and mileage etc) I now have the cash (nearly!) and may have already made my mind up - yes I will try and get the plots done I don't believe acceleration times are accurate enough but they will give an indication. 2 people in identical cars don't always accelerate the same and its not the cars! As to noisier exhausts - I prefer the street sleeper - far more fun when you leave Johnny boy behind. Last edited by Miggins; 31st March 2007 at 15:17. |

Which camp are you in, Superchips, Celtic Tuning or Other. I don't know if there are enough in the forum to justify a vote. If you think there are, please feel free, I've no idea how to set one up.

Superchips
Superchips - I have about 40,000 miles with their mod on my SEAT Alhambra - fantastic torque, especialy from 1,000rpm. I do find the £500 a bit hard to swallow though! Not sure if it's lost a bit over the years or it's the lighter and faster Civic that I'm comparing it with.

Yer i think i agree with miggins Ive heard allot of good things about superchips ill ask the dealer near me to see if he can knock any of the £500 price tag, also the extra warranty they provide sets your mind at rest, we hope we never need any warranty but its good to have it.
