You can theoretically reach any desired speed you want on derestricted autobahns however you wont stay there very long. I tend to sit between 120-130mph on clear autobahns when fuel isnt a problem. However I very rarely cruise under 90mph. The other factor 99% of people dont know "even germans" if your insurance company can prove you were doing over 130kmh (80mph ??) they can refuse to payout! Because the reccomended speed limit is 130kmh regardless of wether its derestricted or not they have the right to refuse insurance cover. But to answer the question, knowing im aloud to drive fast doesnt take away the fun =) |

Oh just to add...
ALL autobahns do have a speed limit, this was forced onto the germans as the french complained. I very much doubt you will reach the 400kmh speed limit though! |

I did think that this may have been a result of the engine running for ages and then a brisk drive - I remember picking my car up from the dealers once and it was around 8mpg over 2 miles. They informed me it was due to the fact it had been sat idling for 30 mins for some reason prior to the "test" drive
![]() Can't believe you let the engine run all night whilst you slept though! |

When its that cold outside and you need to sleep your going to need the heating. Oh I got to 38mpg just by driving normal for over 100 miles still managed Cirencester to Rugby in 1 hr which will mean nothing to you but anyone local will know I wasnt sitting at 40mph to do that. Ive slept in my car a few times its surprisingly comfy in the civic. Watched a DVD after work and nodded off haha |
