K&N Typhoon Kit.

For those of you who are interested.

I have been in touch with a sales co-oridnator from K&N.

The Typhoon kit to fit the UK 1.8 i-vtec is still in development, and is coming over to the UK in the next couple of weeks for a fitting check.

He has promised to let me know when it is available.

Shouldnt be long to wait now for us induction junkies.

Do you know if they're doing an air filter for the 2.2 at all?

This is the K & N one for the 1.8 i-VTEC:

http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=33-2342

In Germany it retails for 76 EUR, while it's also available from Halfords in the U.K.

To see who stocks it in Greece, just check out the K & N website.

yes.
but our 1.8 civics start at 138bhp (give or take), not 116bhp.

Of course, it could be bhp measured at the wheels, not the flywheel
In which case it could be for our 1.8 Civic

Although personally if I were selling a performance upgrade I'd be posting up the biggest numbers I could find

My guess, however, is that its for the US model.
The application list states:
2006 HONDA CIVIC 1.8L L4 F/I - US

Whereas the application list for just the filter, as posted by jayt above states:
2006 HONDA CIVIC 1.8L L4 F/I - All

but hey - it might fit!

5.6BHP for changing air filter is complete ****, and impossible.
a) graphs are faked to prove superiority of K&N
b) original filter was extremely dirty, again to show superiority of K&N

And in the end - intake of 1.8 is also quite good, as it's not sucking in warm air, and cannot be much improved at all.

THis wont fit on the euro civic i think, because under the bonnet its different than the usa civic, so ask again if it will fit the euro spec civic 1.8. instruction is shown with usa cars only. SO we have to wait longer i think

Having experience of MAF's I wouldn't touch an oiled filter.

Best way to bugger-up the sensor.

Had a K&N in my 120 ZS (no MAF) and it was great; Put one in my 115TD (Bosch MAF) needed to replace the sensor twice in 16 months.

I'll keep the OE one until a good quality foam one is available.

On a happy note... I went to fill her up with petrol tonight and the garage was doing a 24hr offer. Got a full 48litres of V-Power for the same price as standard unleaded. Bonus.

Emailed K&N about filters for the petrol 1,8 engine.
So far they have only panel filters for this engine and they are working on a Typhon version, they say .

given dinoc's post - I doubt it'll fit

And going with previous comments in this thread, I too would be stunned if you could get a real 6bhp increase by simply changing the air filter and doing nothing else.

If it were that easy, Honda would have done it.

Certainly, if you go down the route of other engine work, then you will eventually (possibly quite soon) get to the point where the standard Honda airbox is restricting the amount of air the engine can pull in, and will become the bottleneck in the quest for power.
And at that point, adding a less restrictive filter like the K&N would help.

But fitting one to a standard engine - isn't going to make a huge difference I would say.

sorry

I'd be happy to be proved wrong though!

K&N Europe mentioned me in that email, that will be a Typhon kit for this engine ready by the end of the year.
