10w 40 Engine Oil

My newly purchased ctdi was serviced at Alan days but according to the receipt they filled it with 10w 40 oil. Is it OK to continue using this until the next service or am I likely to encounter problems?

I don't know off the top of my head (though I'm sure someone on here does! ) but I'll have a look in the manual when I get home from work. If you have received no info from other members by then, I'll let you know...

Hmm.. that's annoying, I specified the RECOMMENDED 0w-30 oil when doing my service, and my top ups have been the same too.

Surely 10w-40 isn't ideal in the Civ?

best answers so far seem to be in this thread -> Recommended Oil for I-VTEC annd I-CDTI

indicating that it isn't so much the weight on the packaging that matters, as the test results...

so - dunno is my answer!

Well, according to the manual; 10w/30 and 10w/40 are fine for ambient temps from -20 up to 40+. Hope that helps...
